help... plz?

Post by astrosafari »

hey...
I got a spot light from my brother, its an expensive one, but the end of the wire got cut off, thats why he gave it to me.
So im putting a new plug on it...
however, im not exactly sure which wire goes where...
its 3 prong, i have white black and blue wires.
so far from what i have searched, if i were looking straight at the plug as if it were all hooked up already, the bottom would be blue, but i dont know which side the black and white would go on.. left or right?
i could just throw it together and plug it in and see what happens... but then i could end up having a bad day... if some one could use there electrical abilities and point me in the safe correct direction, that would be great. thanks :)

I'll bet that the blue wre is actually green.

White & Black go to either of the flat prongs.
Green is ground.

Well, if the lights suddenly dim and we smell burning flesh, it would be a strong indication that you goofed.

Ok Corey...here is the CORRECT info! ( I am an electrician, not a wanna be)

If the light is to be plugged into a standard 110/120 volt AC plug then the plug you get will have green, silver and brass colored screws. The green one is for ground, the silver (Wider flat prong) will be for the white wire and the brass screw (narrower prong) will be for the black wire.
