Transmission cooler on a van with 200K miles?

Would it be worthwhile to put a transmission cooler on a van with 200K miles? I think it is the original tranny. It is shifting smoothly. I just had the fluid changed and the fluid looked "appropriately dirty". I don't do a lot of driving right now - about 150 miles a week, most of which is stop and go. When a bundle of money drops on my lap I am hoping to drop a diesel and probably new tranny into Astro, but that might not be for another 5K miles. I am hoping within the next 3 months to start taking road trips with the van, through mountainous roads from Portland to Boise, or just up through the mountains to go camping on the weekends.

The goal would be help the present tranny last as long as possible.

Yes. Then when/if you swap to a diesel and a new tranny you will already have the cooler installed. Look in the transmission section for some pics of tranny cooler installs.

Green got one put in soon after I purchased it, roughly 148k miles. They'll help even old transmissions.
