Jump seats on the rear doors?

Post by pengyou »

On occassion I would like to be able to carry an extra couple of people. I was wondering if it is possible to install two jump seats in the rear, one on each door? A jump seat is a seat that will fold up when not in use. Has anyone tried this?

i think the strain on the doors would not be a good thing. probably cause problems with the door allignment/sealing after a while

Given the doors are just sheet metal, I wouldn't do it either.

Maybe make something that would mount to the floor to get the extra strength from that?

You could use some of the floor mounts from the other seats to make it removable too...

i don't think that would be all that safe........imagine two people sitting right up against the back doors....pretty tight.....getting rear ended or something like that.......

How about some lawn chairs? You can strap some cameras on the back of them as well so you can have a rear view camera.

Then you buy yourself a leather couch,ok??.

Then you strap the couch to the cargo rack on the roof,ok??.

But then you never get around to taking it off,ok??.

Soooo, when you find you have too many people....well.OK??. :yikes: #-o :muhaha: :muhaha:

Such answers....hmmm what an awesome display of....well...it is a display! :supz: I had not thought of the crunch factor, although I did think of strapping a couple of rocking chairs ala Beverly Hillbilly's, on top of the van but then I would have trouble going through tunnels...then I would, of course, have to devise a trap door in the van so that when I wanted to go through the tunnels or underpasses with low clearance the rocking chairs (and occupants) would momentarily drop into the passenger compartment and sit on the laps of the under occupants. =D>

I think I will have to go back to the drawing board on this one. :bounce:
