95 cpi to 5.7L mpi - need help

I am contemplating either turboing my existing 4.3L or dropping in a mpi 5.7L v8.

The van right now is cpi injection (which sucks) so it's either go backwards to tbi (thanks to lockdocs writeup) or go really far back to carbed or jump into the 21st century and go full blown multiport injection.

My problem is I cannot find any info on how to change to mpi or direct injection or whatever its called now days.

Any help would be super appreciated...

Gordon

TBI is not a step backward. It's just another way of getting fuel into the engine. From my research there is an opinion among some motor heads that it is better than MPI. \:D/

Like how the factory TBI 4.3s build torque right off idle.

I always had issues with my tbi vans... rough idle, running realllllly rich when cold and hesitation when at normal temp.

This CPI van though.... when you say go it really gets up and goes.

This particular engine has the neatest sound when you gun it... i'll have to get a vid for you guys some day when the snow goes away as I just can't explain the sound.

The best bet is to get an 88-95 TBI motor from a fullsize van or truck. You can swap in the V8 chip from the computer and there is a only a few wires needed to be changed/spliced to fit the CPI injection wires to the TBI. Lockdoc did a write up a few years ago in his 93 CPI van when he swapped in a TBI. Maybe it's still around or he has it stored somewhere.

Or if you really have a hard-on for MPI, find yourself a complete vehicle (scrap yard etc) and swap out the engine/tranny/'puter and wiring. Unless you screw up, you shouldn't have any issues!

Personally The only thing I like about MPI is the "easy to boost" fact apposed to tbi or carb being a major pain in the arse.

I will most likely just go backwards to tbi as i have lokdocs writeup on it... even i can handle that wiring :P
