How tos - we need some of the real basic ones.

Post by justice »

So far we have some good How tos, but they are mostly custom stuff. No problem with that but we really need to get some of the basics in there. Things like how to remove the dog houses for the different years models. And other basic maintenance things. It does not really matter how simple it is, if it is Astro/Safari specific, we need it documented.

I can do the doghouse removal ones eventually for the 85-90 and 91-95 models, unless someone else can do them sooner. But we'll need someone with a 96 and up van to do one for those years.

What are some other basic how to's that we should be looking out for?

Fuel Pump replacement?
Spark plugs?
I have a ban hammer and I ain't fraid to use it!

How to remove and replace broken door handle

How to open rear doors when the rear handles break

just a few , I'll add more later

I'll be doing headlight replacement soon (waiting for headlights). I will be posting one for fog lights (done yesterday).
Justice, I think the hold-up is exactly what Crash stated earlier; the cold weather is a hindrance to anyone doing any work to their van unless absolutely necessary. The only reason I did my fog lights is because it got up to 60 yesterday. Hey!! My headlights showed up as I was typing this. Looks like the headlights will get done today. It's going to be about 60 today.

As was said earlier, putting a How-to together from me will have to wait for some warmer weather up here. It is freezing out there right now.

Another one which I would like to see is replacing the intake manifold gasket. No I have never done it, but would like to know how it is done. :)

When it gets warmer I will see what ones I can do.

I just added 2 "how-to's"

1. How to read spark plugs
2. How-to EGR replacement and/or screened gasket install

Enjoy,
Aaron

Sublime, put your "How to's" in the right section. There is a link up on the header. That way it doesn't get lost in the mix, and is easy to access.
