Bad News on my safari :-(

Van stranded me last night... narrowed it down to the fuel pump being toast.

Dropped the tank and changed the pump today.... cranked over fine for a few times but now the engine won't crank at all.

Last night i used some starting fluid in an attempt to get it to start, it kind of ran on that but sounded like the engine was full of marbles....

My opinion... the motor is pooched.... anyone else???

I think i may have screwed up.... i got a fuel pump for a 94' TBI engine.... quite a few sites show them to be the same <-----------> Anyone know?

Oh the engine turns over again now.... starter was stuck..lol

I got the starter and fuel pump free so i'm not out anything yet.

I just checked Rock Auto. They list different part numbers. Have you checked for fuel pressure? \:D/

Your "free" pump may be junk as well. Something to check is that it is the correct pump. There were vans with TBI and CPI in 94. Each pump is spec'd to different pressures.

Yup i'm a moron who loves to drop the fuel tank....hahahahaha

The pump I put in yesterday only has 12-17psi.... CPI requires 70-95psi.

Now I have to wait till Monday to get the part from work.

Ok so after some research i found that the newer (96+) vans runs a weee bit higher pressure (about 5-10psi) so i opted to get it from work (at cost).

Got it all installed and primed and took a drive... holy mother of !@#$..... that made a HUGE difference in power.

Took the computer about 15-20 mins to adjust itself to the higher pressures.

When i first started it, it was running so rich it was choking me

Next step is to find 2 turbos off of dodge 2.2 or 2.5L engines and twin turbo this sucker to 5-7psi.
