"Old topic" That's an odd name. How'd you pick that one? :muhaha:

Let's see, obviously I have Green, Grumpy and Seven (though my family calls it 25% Off) currently.

Previous vans:
1986 Astro was Moby
1994 Astro was Red
1987 Astro was Parts
2000 Astro was Blue

Other vehicles:
1980 Ford Fairmont was Zeke
1984 Pontiac 6000STE was The Beast
1990 Ford Taurus was The Taurus

18 years and only 10 vehicles, I blame the Astros for being too reliable.

The Blue Whale. She is big (hi-top conversion), blue and wallows around like I picture a whale swimming....

92 Astro = "The Turquoise van" (funny since its actually teal...)
87 Safari = "Shorty"
95 Safari = "The Money Pit". "POS" "For Sale"

All our vehicles get names eventually as my DW is a compulsive namer. The Safari is Quin, the Sunrunner is Bennie, and her Mazda is Jamie (although I call it money pit).

Mine gets called "The Sherpa", or "Tenzing", who was the Nepalese Sherpa who was the first to summit Everest with Sir Edmund Hillary.

Sherpa because the van routinely carries all our gear, and does so flawlessly and so reliably, like a trusty Sherpa mountaineer.

A Wiki reference regarding Sherpa Tenzing Norgay:

In 1953, he took part in John Hunt's expedition, his own seventh expedition to Everest. A member of the team was Edmund Hillary, who had a narrow escape when the ice gave way as he was moving loads up to this camp, plunging him into a crevasse. Fortunately Tenzing, who was following, thrust his ice-axe in the snow, and whipped the rope round it in good belay. It tightened just in time to prevent Hillary being smashed to pieces at the bottom of the crevasse. Thereafter Hillary began to think of Tenzing as the ideal partner in a bid for the summit.

Ha, thanks. I was thinking of it as a "Base Camp", but Jen brought up the point that its so much more mobile than a base camp. After all, we more often than not "through camp" with it so by definition its not a base camp. Ah, the things you talk about around the campfire.
