Idling problems > Idle air control?

At stop lights the idling was so bad that I usually kicked her into N. Sometimes I would get the SES light. Coding was "rich". Asked around and figured it was the Idle Air Contol (IAC). Bought a new AcDelco unit. The old IAC was indeed dirty on the "needle". I could have cleaned it but after 309,000 miles I just might as well replace.
I sprayed some brake cleaner on a paper towel and used a screwdriver to Q-tip-it out the port. Took a few but eventually it started to clean up OK.
Will drive it a few days to see how it runs.
