I recently bought a hitch for my 94 standard body astro. My question is will i lose my spare, its not full size but i saw on here someone had to give it up. I really dont like the idea of running around will out a spare

I have a class IV "U-Haul" hitch with a removable reciever on my van, and the spare is still in the stock location. I guess it depends on the type of hitch you bought.

I have a 94LT which is of course not a "shortie van".The spare tire fits up there, but when I took it out it was so rusty that it wouldn't fit on as a spare.I think to use that spare location is a really bad idea in any case.It fits behind the last rear seat and the back door just fine.

All 3 of the road driven vans I have owned have had class 3 hitches and all had spares in the stock location.

My '97 which I tow with not only has a spare, but a full sized on at that.

I had problems with my shorty and a full size spare with a hitch. The donut fit above the hitch if I remember right, the full size tire hung too low.
It's been a while, I hope I remembered that right.

Okay, I know this is an old thread, but I figured I'd bump this one rather then start a new one.
I have an '03 Astro. Why is it that all the hitches I'm finding seem to be only for the extended models?
Where's a good source for a hitch for a standard length Astro?

Your '03 is an extended version.

Oh...
I though the extended Astros said "EXT" or something?

They did when the offered the shorties as well. This was up to 1994. 1995 - 2005 are all the extended.

Well don't I feel foolish...
That makes finding a hitch a lot easier (we have one where I work...)
Thanks!
