New guy for Evansville, IN

Post by SafariRoadster »

Hey guys. I'm Jason, 27, from Evansville, IN. I just bought my second astro van. Its a 97 Chevy Astro Cargo van. 2wd. Just picked it up yesterday for $450.00. Runs like a champ. Doesn't even smoke or leak any fluids. I plan to shave all the handles, taillights. Remove the roof rack and inside shelves. I'm going to put a bench/bed in the back. Probably a bunch more stuff. My old 88 Safari van was awesome.
It was already lowered when I bought it and I cut the roof off for a full time roadster. Sadly I moved to an apt, and had no where to store it.
So it got sold. Heres the pics.
My new van.

This site is awesome. You guys make it so hard to decide which way to take my van. I'm undecided between lifting or lowering my 97 astro. Its only 2wd. I've always been a lowrider guy but something about these lifted astros looks badass.

If it doesn't have one already, put a G80 rear in it and meet me at the Badlands Off Road Park in Attica, IN. Getting stuck can be quite fun. :supz:

With all that crap under the front ramp? Absolutely not! Driver's seat only.

The pic is an example of suspension flex, more the better off-road. BTW, the stock flex shown is greater than the stock flex for Jeep Wrangler YJ.

Welcome to the site!
that is one of the more radical mods I've seen
one word... Wow! :prayer:
'89 Astro, 4.3L, TBI. Minor intake and exhaust mods. Rebuilt 700R4 trans (by me). Corvette servo, 0.5" boost valve, police grade 1-2 accumulator spring (shifts fast and solid). B&M stacked plate trans cooler. Bilstein shocks. Belltech sway bars front and back. New head unit, speakers and subwoofer. Needs paint and a new headliner.

I can't remember all I've forgotten about that....

Love your convertible! That would be really cool if some kind of soft top could have been designed for when the weather got bad.
