how to tell if the drums are right.

First off.. i just did my rear brake a coupla months ago. not looking at needing it done soon. But my local used pic-a-part says he has a set of drum from a safari.
only thing i got to go on is his word (i believe him) but his word is based on the word of the guy that dropped them off.
They are brand new (looks like 9" drums) and the look about the same as the ones i just put on. Is there a particular way to tell, part number that should be stamed into them. I am not sure of the brand (none stamed that i could see 'cept they are made in china).
i Can get the pair for 20$. (better than around 80 no?).
also. the same guy dropped off a set of rotors but i am sure they are wrong. The fronts are part of the hub assembly correct.

normally the drum will have a part number stamped on it some where. RWD stro's the rotor is part of the hub but AWD the fronts are separate from the hub

Measure the bolt pattern. If it is 5 x 5" it will be for an Astro or Safari 99% of the time.

I guess after the crazy headaches i had searching for used wheels (round my area) i should figure that...

Some guy "dropped them off"? That seems a little odd.
Don't parts at a pick-a-part lot usually come OFF of a vehicle?
Under what kind of conditions would anyone "drop off" brake drums
at a pick-a-part? Did the original guy remove them from one of the
vans in the lot and then decide he didn't want them so dropped
them off at the counter?
That being said, could you temporarily remove one of your known
good brake drums and take it to the counter to compare?

well. i work in germany for the army.. the guy had bought the drums to do his brakes. but by the time they got here he had to ship his car on orders..
had them extra then. The pick a part in question is basically the only place for US personnel to dispose of vehicles, (and parts sometimes) quickly and without the hassle of dealing with taxes on the german side. And i suppose its better than throwing away good parts..
Its tough here in that respect sometimes...
