1999 AWD Astro
118000 miles.
Pump never replaced
Regulator never replaced. I have had the van since it had 30000.

Yesterday I left work, van started righ up. Got home ,parked in front of the attached garage where I never park. Went to take a saw to my in laws, and van would not sart, would just crank. Could not hear pump. Switched relay, nothing. Today went out and it cranked a few extra seconds and started. I moved it to my garage where i can work on it.Picked up a fuel gauge at autozone and hooked it up. turned key went to 60,turned off switch, dropped to 0. did it again. 3rd time i started the van,it idles at 52 . Turned off van, dropped to 0. Turned switch, now the pump will not come on.
Will a faulty pump let it drain that quick? Could it be a combo of the pump and regulator?

Certainly sounds like the fuel pump. Unfortunately I don't know exactly how your pump works in order to answer about the sudden drop to 0.

If the pump doesn't come on when the key is cycled, the pump is faulty. 118k is about average for a fuel pump. I would say it is time for a new one.

I put the new pump in. It has solved the problem. I also changed the filter.
