thought I was having chicken for dinner

Post by kings-x59 »

-down at the crik again with the lovely Ms. kx59. Couldn't have asked for better weather.

headed out to the bay to fish the oyster farms

We didn't burn up the world but I caught three, ranging from 18 to 21 inches.
Look puny in the photo, but hey, took it with my cell phone so whateva :muhaha:

Best part was just being down on the water getting sunburned, dirty, sweaty, skeeter bites, fish slime...more or less the perfect day.

I'm jeleous you have the weather to be out on the water! :bounce:

(I got my project boat seaworthy just as the decent boating days were winding down. It's looking like she won't launch until spring now.) ](*,)

We've fished as late a January, depending on how cold a winter we get. Late fall and early winter are prime redfish season.
The wind chill on the boat is a bit rough though. During the winter we look like a boat load of ax murderers - coveralls, stocking caps and face masks when we are up and running in the boat.

So...thought I might have fish tonight but nothing was biting
We are having the bait instead

Image

These have to be the all time biggest bait shrimp I've gotten. It was all they had at the bait camp. They were scaring the fish away.
Pricey..$16 a quart. They were all still alive when we got back to the house, so it's into the pot with some shrimp boil for them.

heh, you'd think wouldn't you? smaller bait works better. I have no idea why the shrimpers had nothing but steroid monkey shrimp this weekend.
