Hi,
my name is Bear and I'm going for half a year Astro Cobra. :usa:
I'm in a German Vanforum way but I thought since I have a very specific question do to register in an American forum. Well first of all to me and my car. I'm 37, professional chef and have a big family. 5 children. A year ago I was driving a Ford Econoline 1994th To drive these vehicles in Germany, but is not so simple. First, you kills the state with taxes for large displacement and then the gasoline costs 1.50 € per liter. Therefore, I have bought a Astro. Smaller capacity and less fuel consumption. Nevertheless, a living room on wheels. I hope you excuse my English. Regards, Bear

Welcome, Bear. What is considered a large displacement vehicle and how much is the tax?

About 3 liters of displacement is large. for my 5.8 liter Eco I have 877, - € to pay taxes per year. This has to do with such an environmental package. You get this badge for the car. The less emissions, the cheaper the tax. Euro 1 to Euro 4 comes from. Unfortunately, the Eco had Euro1. € 15 per 100cc. Did your car Euro4, and pay only € 6, - per 100cc. The smaller the car, the cheaper. But I love big engines. Blubber, blubber, blubber

Thanks for the welcome. Had got a question for my Cobra. Does anyone of you in the Astro Cobra was built? I mean, what decorators. I think that it was Cobra, but can not find the designer on the web.

:yikes: That's about $1200 USD. That's as much as the insurance!

I know you meant taxes. I was comparing to my insurance payments.

You pay half of what I do for insurance. Must be better drivers there.

Könnten Sie definieren, was "Cobra" für Sie?

Good morning,

@ timelessbeing: I have just such a cheap insurance because I could tell my insurance company, either they assure me the van as a camper, or I go to another insurance company. Normally you insured vehicles here on the size, weight, capacity, frequency of accidents. Would I drive a VW Golf, I would have probably about 100, - € pay, per month. The reason is that here one in three runs a small car, and many hold just golf. or a Japanese.

@ kamenz: thank you for this information only once. I have searched with us for so long and found nothing. Even the guys from our German Chevyforum could say nothing. Thank You

@ doyoulikethere: to cook my favorite food is Italian. I also like experimenting. I also use google as a translator.

@ all: Here are a few photos of my van:

Welcome Bar,

I have a 1992 Astro conversion van. When I purchased it new in 1992 the chevy dealer dealt with a conversion company in Indiana. They arranged to have the Astro shipped from the factory to the conversion company and once converted they delivered it to the chevy dealer. Back then most conversion companies did business direct dealers since they ordered large quantities of conversion vans.

I did an internet search for Cobra and found this link: http://chevyvanonline.com/chevy-van-rel ... companies/

Note that the article is from 2008. It appears that Cobra Van Conversions existed in the past but no longer exists. I do not see as many new conversion vans now as I did 20 years ago.
