Good day to all of you, wow, if only i knew that you guys were here, i would of been a member over 6 years ago.

Like the site so far and great tip that you guys have around here. really handy.

Keep on the good job.

Hoping that i will be able to get some good info and experience with all of you and will do my best to help you guys too.

I love Astro vans. i can't say i had tons of them, but quite a few of them as i use to work as delivery driver here on the island "Vancouver island" and the first one i had was 88 Astro van, it didn't last long after i converted it into a Propane system. the motor blew short after i gave it to my dad.

The next one was a Safari. An ugly blue color, but it did the job as a delivery vehicle as my heart wasn't totally attached to it.

Then i bought a Chevy Cargo van "G30" with a V8 350 on Propane. Loved the power of the motor, but too much money on Propane Until one day ...

... I saw a Beautiful Army blue Cargo Astro van "not extended" parked at the car dealer's lot.

Pulled over and talked the guy and told him to put it on hold until Saturday. So he did.

The day came for me to see the van up close and personal. :-)

The van was going to be a Delivery van for sure and when i first started, it blew blue smoke at 320,000 km on it, i said AW Frak, went for a test drive and the more i was driving it, less it was pumping blue, so i figured, i'll take it and will go from there.

So traded in my big G30 for this little blue Astro van and i knew i was going to do something stupid.

I started to make it look Fancy. Put boom box "2x12" MTX subs in the back, pioneer deck and an ipod. People could hear me coming and during the process of working with that dear blue van as a courier, it's life was on the line.

Just right around the olympics here in BC. I blew 2 motors, 2 tranny, one Diff, 4 Radiator, 2 steering pump.
But with the labour for the mechanic to work on my truck? i wasn't to happy of their results. So i decided to give it a shot.

I put the new motor and new tranny in myself with the help of my father, replaced the diff, rear suspension "steel leaf spring".

then i quit my job as i couldn't make any money and working for another company. So i no longer put any stress on my van anymore, SOOOO

time to pimp it. until recently i put and HID lighting system, just got my Projector lens this week, put my Sun-visor in, 5 spoke alloy rim, Phantom Grill, Leds on my rear bumper, led Tail light, LED marker light, and more led behind the grill, boom box is still in :yellin: , rear spolier will be installed and will be time to Camp-arise it

Now waiting for summer to come in so that i can convert my van into a V8 350 "carburator" and looking for some serious racing tires.

The van is Currently at 466,XXX km on it and still kickin'

Pictures will soon posted in my profile, but here is a few

Howdy neighbor. :canuk:  :usa:

I took this from my house on Canada Day '09. The city of Bellingham is in the foreground with Bellingham Bay, then Lummi Penninsula. You can't quite see the Straight of Georgia, but of course the mountains of Vancouver Island are silhouetted by the sun setting behind them. Nanaimo, of course, is somewhere this side of the silhouetted mountains.

Good luck with your project. Maybe we'll get together for a convoy to Bamfield or something.

Cowichan about an hour up island from Nanaimo? I've only cruised thru it i think on my way to Tofino.
Your van is looking sweet. Excellent stance and the wheel/tire combo really set if off.

We'll have to get an Island meet together this summer not too far from the ferry landing.

Edit: Just answerred my own quesion; 1.5hrs
