Chevy Geo Storm??.

Two things that has kept me from selling off the 1994 Astro LT it is my comfort daily driver and the shop van doesn't have a class III trailer hitch so the 94 is my primary towing van right now.

I think I remember that the extended 94 trailer hitch will not fit on the 1985 shorty.Maybe some could chime in to straighten me out on that.

I am considering trimming the Astro herd selling off the 1994.It has been very good to me,but it has or will soon reach a point where I will have to give it some parts and time. The rust issues are winning the battle too.

I am looking into getting a Chevy Geo Storm.Like like the look and great gas mileage too.I was surprised to find only three listed on ebay and none on the local Craigslist. The three on ebay was priced kind of high. Now the lack of finding them either means they had real issues and are in junk yards or people just love them and are not willing to part with them.Any body have experiences with the Geo Storms??.

I found this review:

I am thinking if I can beat the Battery/choke idiot light issue and add the Class III hitch from the 94 to the shop van, then I could sell off the 94 for seed money to buy a Geo Storm.Run that as a daily driver until Ole Yellar is ready to go.I think it would pay for it's self in gas mileage vs to keep running the 94 LT.

I was surprised to see the two Storms on Eba being sold as starting bids of $1599 and $2599.But claiming 45 mpg.Hummmmm :-k

Back when those cars were around...they were considered disposable. Like the Cavalier after it etc.....once cars like them need a major repair, they tend to get junked.

They were a peice of junk the day they came out of the factory. I have known several people with them and most had major issues.

Try looking for a Honda civic dx they are a way way better car. There are so many little 4 banger cars that get great mileage and are a dime a dozen.

Yepper-rust on them around here I have seen as a huge factor.I just thought it was part of the normal thing being in the snow belt area.I do know that some of the imported vehicle's steel is not up to the task of holding up very well in the salt snow belt areas.

Yrs ago I drove a Honda civic(live-in girlfriend's car) which was a great little car you couldn't kill the engine. When the rotors needed to be replace the parts cost was kind of rude, then the struts towers rusted out and that was the end of the car with still a strong running engine.

It has got to be 15 to 20 yrs ago I had a car to drive as a d.d.I don't remember was that was like anymore.I have had trucks/vans for that whole time.

I would rather pay for gas, before driving a Yugo. I ride a motorcycle through the spring, summer and fall. Use the gas guzzler when I need to.

theres 2 or 3 storms around here. dont think they've been driven much -seeing as most departed to the junkyards in the 90's (hmm wonder why that is). I have seen alot of metros and festivas/ escorts/other ford mini cars around though.

We used to have one. I was about 13 at the time, so I only drove it two or three times. It was a pretty quick car for a 3 cylinder, and it seemed to handle great, especially on cornering and what not. It did have a few problems, though. Peeling (hot pink) paint, busted radio, and I think we went through two alternators in two years. It might've been a starter and an alternator, but I'm not 100% sure. It was expensive to fix, but we had a friend of ours fix it for a fair price.

Basically, it's an ok little car, but definitely not more than that.
