For the whole time I have owned the 94 LT I have hated the location of the electric lock switches and window switches.I am constantly hitting the lock switch with my knee.
Now I am going to incorporate electric windows and locks in the build of Ole Yellar. My solution is to make a ledge panel that will have those switches on the window sill way above my knees. What you guys think of that idea??.

I have the location very useful for times when I don't have a free hand to unlock the doors. Like when I am driving down the road, talking on the cell and eating lunch.

That type of switch protector is designed for a SPST/DPST switch. The switch used for windows and locks is a SPDT/DPDT, with momentary on positions. A switch protector of that type is worthless because it will hold the switch contacts in a MADE position and burn out the associated components.

And you would be wrong. What you need are protectors, arcs of material that protrude above the tallest point of switch travel; you would have to put your finger between the protectors in order to activate the switch.
Just once, please listen to those who know what they are doing.

I could get inventive and make a mount for them that would at the window sill slide in and out like a ash tray slide.Clean looking and there when I want and there to see in the dark not having to search to them. I would mount it by the window on the sill just alittle forward of the steering wheel out of the way but within easy reach.Driver's side only.
