Blower manifold

Post by brokenwrench »

anybody have a blower manifold for a 4.3 lying around? I just got a supercharger and I do not relish making a manifold
if there are some out there.

Why not try marine apps??.You might get lucky and find one already done from those sources.

Heres a couple pix I found, pretty rare items I think...
These guys make a manifold but it looks like its cost about 400 bux, same as a SBC i guess....
He has a turnkey 4.3 with a 471 on his site, so he has manifolds, but didnt list one in the manifold section... Gotta ask him I guess

Yup, thats the one I have pictured above with the BDS on it..
I notice all of these are all for the early style heads with 6 intake bolts per head.
None of them appear to fit the post 1996 heads. Too bad...

shouldn't be hard to redrill, i can index the pattern off of an intake gasket, use one hole for registry on the head, mount her up in the vertical
mill and drill some holes,

heck, (notice I didn't use hell as this is a family site), not hard to redrill either the head or the intake. I love the injector bungs or nitrous bungs on the posted picture.

Yup, Ive seen an Edelbrock 2114 8-bolt manifold machined to fit early 6 bolt heads. Not to difficult.

Problem is when you try to fit an early 12 bolt manifold to a pair of Vortec 4 bolt heads, you will probably find that it falls a bit short and doesn't reach up high enough on the gasket surface to properly cover the bigger ports on the Vortec 4 bolt heads. there is at least a half inch difference. I mocked up a 4.3 block once with some 4 bolt Vortec heads and I set an edelbrock 2111 (12 bolts) in there to investigate this very possibility. My memory is old now but I'm pretty certain I found that I could use an 8 bolt intake on the 6 bolt heads, but I could not make a 12 bolt manifold work with the 4 bolt heads.
I was using Edelbrock 2111 and 2114 for my experiments.

Confused yet??

At any rate, ..... Get a Camera!!!!!! :poke: :poke: :poke: :poke:

I can weld up the aluminum, not a big deal, if necessary, I can make an adaptor plate, even cut off the runners and make my own flanges, this is the great thing about the computer age, i can just scan the gasket, save it in .jpg. throw a chunk of aluminum in the vertical mill center and push the go button, fill in the defects with mig aluminum, get the grinders out.
