Custom bench seat?

My uncle just replaced the bench seat in his truck due to it being worn out. I can fix it pretty easily since I know a bit about sewing. It's blue vinyl. I'll probably leave it like that until I get some steady cash and can afford some new fabric. I can make some mounting brackets in the school shop, and it *should* just bolt to the floor pretty easily.
It has the back that flips forward, and it's just the right width that I could put it in the middle or the front. Where should I put it?
