Started the "overnighter" additions the weekend.

Post by arlon »

Nothing very impressive, just starting with the basic necessities.. Hopefully I can add to this as things progress.
Found a toilet seat that fits a bucket from TODD industries (boating supplies). I looked at a few in the local camping store but this ones seems a lot nicer. trash bag liner with a layer of clumping cat litter. I figure if the cat litter works for our three cats it might be a good easy solution for for the bucket potty.

We really wanted to try to keep one seat in the van and the back seat is pretty comfy. It will be our lounge when we are stuck inside, reading bench, and a few other things. With the back seat pushed all the way back and the front seats forward there should be enough room for me to stretch out. Bed area will be 44" wide by 74" long. The width may be a little narrow but we are going to try to make it work. That width leaves a little room for getting out of the bed and room for the waste management solution. When not in use as a bed it will become a second bench seat with storage inside.

Pretty cool. I just remembered that I have actually taken a dump inside my van...before it was mine even with a similar setup!

The waste facility actually works better than one might imagine. Tie the bag off when done and just leave it in the bottom and add some more kitty litter. If you are stronger than the kitty litter and a bag, there is always the vapor proof, O-ringed lid that can be snapped onto the bucket..

We do a lot of day long road trips and find ourself miles from any convenient facility at the worst of times. This waste management facility will be perfect for those rare occasions. It's like insurance, don't need it very often but when you doo, nothing will substitute.. (-:}

Got a little more done this evening..

Bed platform just happened to fit one of those under bed storage boxes perfectly.. Works from the end or the top..

Finished covering the boxes, bed support and such. Got the door on the storage box side done.. Added 2" lift shackles to the rear, hope to get to the front done this week too.
