Check Gauges

Post by Someone »

This may be a dumb question but I have not had time to check yet, but when I turn a corner or brake hard my check gauges light comes on threw the turn and my oil pressure gauge drops to zero, as soon as I am out of the corner it goes back to normal.... Am I most likely just low on oil? I have no leaks and no ticks... I guess I could be just a little low, I am passed my scheduled oil change so it should be done soon anyways... just wondering if it could be something else.... It is time I start working some of the generals bugs out before they infest )>)

well ,I changed my oil last night (what weas left of it) and found out I have a small leak at the front of the pan that I am going to have to investigate a little further.... but to my dismay I also found out that what I thought was my trans crossmember that bottoms out on speedbumps is actually my oil pan!!! Time to be extra catious from now on... it looks like there is only enough left for a few more scrapes!!... it has oil on it because I took the pictures after the oil change

Is there a shallow pan available for the 4.3?

Umm, thats not good! #-o
So I guess the check gauges light was coming on because you were low on oil?
I don't think there is such a thing as a shallow pan. You really do have to be careful with these oil pans because they are cast aluminum & they don't really have any give to them like the stamped steel ones. These ones just shatter.

Have you tried to re-index your tosions?
I did that with my toyota truck when I was that low and it kept the ride feeling stock but at a much lower stance.
Pull the torsions and fit them in the doglegs? at a different reference position.

Tristan,

Do you still have some of the left over timbren parts? Could you stuff part or all of a timbren in place of the factory bump stop? You are likely riding on or pretty close to it now, why not beef it up?

I'd get an oilpan from the junkyard, or somebody here, and take it to a welding shop, and have them section out about an inch or so. Just be sure to know exactly how much so you take the same amount out of the pickup.

just my suggestions....
