Can anyone give me some advice on what might be going on with my ac compressor. It is on a 03 awd. It will kick on and off in 25 second intervals but no cold air. I have had the thing recharged and checked for leaks none to be found. Any ideas or should I just replace it. Thanks for any help.

I don't think it's the compressor. Although I'm not the expert. The pressure switch could be bad. There is a connection behind the compressor that sometimes comes loose. You can put a jumper on the pressure switch to bypass it.

Put a set of gauges on it to be sure pressures are ok, then go from there.

Thanks for the info. The pressure is fine. What's next?

Bypass the pressure switch.

Expanding on this thought, only do this as a troubleshooting technique and not as a "permanent" solution. Those safeties are there to protect two things: #2) keep the equipment from breaking permanently and #1) protect the people from injury.

If you bypass the high pressure safety and it is legitimately tripping on high pressure you're going to rupture refrigerant line or seals in the compressor. If you're too close to the spot that pops you're going to have a bad day gone worse in a hurry.

When my van was short cycling the compressor similar to yours it was low on refrigerant and the low pressure safety was taking it out. Slow leak developed at the rear coil lines, took them a while to find, even with the leak detector dye and a blacklight.

Who charged the system and if not a shop, how was pressure verified?

I agree...for trouble shooting only. You might take it to a different shop and have all functions verified.

Thanks everyone for the information. The ac was recharged at a gm dealership. They did the dye test and the black light. I am taking it to a different gm shop. I will have them really check the rear coils. Thanks for the information.

What was the solution to the problem? Or, was a solution not found, yet?
