I miss my Astro

well, I'll say it out loud. I've been driving an 04 Mazda 6 5spd for 1 year now and it's been a horribly long Canadian winter.

I miss my AWD. I have been looking for something to replace it come spring (don't get me wrong it's a fast fun great handling car). It's not an Astro though.

I've been looking at quad cab pickups, simply because the Astro vintage is dwindling. I would love to replace the 6 with a replica of 9dawgs lifted van (can't recall the year).. only with dutch doors and AWD. I still have pics of it saved on my pc. or... a slightly lowered AWD would be nice too. I miss the stance and no body roll of my 94 Astro LT just wish either had a bit more power.. UMPH!!

sadly, I don't think based on the crazy asking price of some of these used vans I'd be able to afford one.

my vision (not my wallet) has me in like an 03 - 04 with 20" tahoe rims for the summer and some american racing black steelies for the winter with some BFG all terrain t/a's LOL :D

something with the stance of this one would be awesome! viewtopic.php?f=14&t=9088
or my 94 Astro LT (lowered)

anyway.. I've rambled long enough. take care guys.. I just miss it and needed to open up to those that understand. :(

thanks for listening...
Rob

My sympathies. I was 8 years between my 1990 Astro and my 2004 Safari and, while I've had a lot of issues lately with the newer one, nothing else fits my needs so well. I have 2 large dogs (doodle and mastiff) and we tow a trailer in the summer. While mine is not AWD, nothing else will do the job in the comfort that a Safari/Astro will provide. Keep your chin up- something may come your way when you least expect it. [-o<

I propose that you join StroFari Anonymous. It's a self-help group for those suffering withdrawal from their favourite vehicles. Membership is free and open to all who have ever owned a Stro or a Safari and lost it.

You'll get help from fellow members and you will only be known by your handle. A sponsor will help you through the tough times and with the 12-step program.

But you'll have to want help first. We can't do it for you. [-o<

i saw this the other day looks like it has potential might be an easy repair if not good place for a V8 swap :supz: . I'd pick it up but with my van out for body work it would stretch me a weeeee bit to thin lol

I know the feeling, all to well. Sold my 03 awd Astro in 2012 and finally just replaced it with a lifted 02 Awd Safari this past weekend. Threw some pics up in the offroad sub forum.

Be patient and keep an eye out for the right van. Took me almost 2 years to replace mine.

thanks. I checked out your pics and thought .. HEY that's the one that would have been perfect, if that is the one that was in the for sale section here from a member in michigan. I came back because I missed mine. looked in the for sale section and saw that one marked as sold. great find. congrats on your new ride. =D>

I'm still undecided if I want another one.. but I do miss it. :-k

I miss my astro too, I just wish it would move out of my garage under its own power. Boat of fail.
