Re: Has anyone every done face to face seating in the rear?

Thanks! That certainly is a good idea. But what I am talking about is 1 bench seat that is mounted - attached - to the passenger side wall in the back facing the driver's side and one bench seat attached to the dirver's side of the van in the rear facing the passenger's side. That way, if 4 people a...

Has anyone every done face to face seating in the rear?

By "face to face" as opposed to everyone looking forward. I have seen some motorhomes where the rear part of the vehicle had the 2 sets of seats arranged so that they were facing each other and had a small table in the middle.

Putting a roof vent in my 'stro - what should I know?

I am heading out to a couple of wrecking yards tomorrow that have vans with a vent in the roof in the rear. I am assuming that roof vents are roof vents, and that they is not one specifically designed for the stro? I am nervous about cutting a hole in my roof. Can someone tell me any secrets or tric...

Re: Complaints....shhhhhh! Don't let your astro read this

Thanks for the discussion! A couple of you mentioned "new technology" vs "old technology". Which one gets better gas mileage? and how "new" is "new"? Do you mean "new" as '95 and later? or some other breakoff? Most 4x4's I have had had a 2 speed gear...

Complaints....shhhhhh! Don't let your astro read this

I just had the lower right ball joint replace on my 'stro. I shared my desire to get an AWD with the mechanic, mostly a good and kindly man, and he shared a mouthful with me. According to him, half of the people with AWD 'strs who have come to him with brake or front end work have had the front driv...

Re: Safety latches for rear tip out windows

I would almost just take some 1/2" or even 1/4" web belting and mount one end to the screws that hold the latches on and then put a clip or hook on the other end and just clip it to the hinge like peice on the other side of the latch against the window or to a hole in the latch on that si...

Re: What to do....

Thanks! Now for the $64,000 question...the engine is in great shape. The transmission now runs as it did before I went to that @%$#& lube place :butthead: . I want to make a trip to Sacramento - about 600 miles one way and a couple of other trips that are about 300 miles round trip. What should ...

Yes - the same on the sliding door as on the driver's side middle window.

Safety latches for rear tip out windows

I am making good use of my 'stro for camping now but there is one thing i would like to change. The rear windows tip out from the bottom. That is useful but I don't want them to tip out all the way. When they are fully open it is possible for someone to stick their arm into the van and unlock the do...

Re: What to do....

Thanks! I changed the fluid and the filter. Now the slipping ALMOST seems to have disappeared - it is still very slightly noticeable sometime when starting or stopping. I looked into the Lucas stuff. They make 2 kinds of tranny stuff, the one you linked to, which is as thick as molasses, and another...

Re: hacking off the top

posterior....mistake intended =D> I will have to put my plans on hold for a while - have to go overseas to earn money to pay for the thing, as well as a few other bills. But I will stay in touch from a distance :dunce:

A no nonsense light!

I found these in Walmart and they work well as a no-nonsense night light when camping, or even a flashlight. They are a solar powered light, probably meant to be put outside in the ground next to a path, etc. but they worked well as a night light and flashlight on my recent camping trip. They are on...

Re: What to do....

That is a good thought. The only problem is that I need some kind of transportation for the next 6-8 weeks. I can lease a car for that long but it will cost as much as a rebuilt transmission + install. If I do fix it to some degree I guess I can sell it before I leave and recoup some of the $$ so I ...
