Front differential bushing source
Does anyone here know where I can source bushings for the front diff on my ‘93? Or if the ones I can get for early 90s jimmys and blazers would work? The lower mounting bracket for the front diff broke so the two bushings hollowed themselves out on the bolts. Was also just thinking about junkyarding...

Re: What did you do to/with your van today?
I’ve looked at them but was purely just curious. I imagine you’d have to spend a lot of time finding spots to secure rubber hoses. And speaking of loosening front differential... I discovered this mounting bracket (I guess that’s what you’d call it?) was broken a few days after I bought the van. It ...

Re: What did you do to/with your van today?
Okay I gotcha. What’s to stop someone from replacing the rigid lines with all rubber ones?

Re: What did you do to/with your van today?
With a Borg Warner transfer case? No. Don’t do that. What would be the issue? I already have the VC so just doing the swap sooner than later wouldn’t break my heart, I just want to learn. As for the oil adapter, it’s just the seal that’s leaking right now. Haven’t decided what I want to do about th...

Re: What did you do to/with your van today?
Thanks!
I’m feeling a little intimidated by what might lie ahead but I’m trying to not let it get to me. I might just pull the front drive shaft for now and wait to fix the TC so I can drive the dern thing.

Re: What did you do to/with your van today?
Thought I’d share my progress with the new van with y’all. Feeling pretty good about what I’ve gotten done. So far I’ve: Replaced fuel pump Cleaned EGR and replaced gasket Fixed exhaust leak New plugs wires and distributor New tires Front end rebuild which included Shock absorbers Upper and lower ba...

Ball joint bolts too large
So I decided to do some front end work on the new van and got a rebuild kit from Anderson Restoration out of SLC. The price was right (I know it seems dumb but I just want to get some miles on the van before I drop any serious dough on upgrade components) and everything out of the box seems pretty d...

Re: New Guy- Boise ID
The guy selling got it started so I went and grabbed it! 784479C9-6176-41CA-A398-AB6133A58CD5.jpeg It idles like total crap so I’m going to dig into that before I do anything else. It’s also got a small exhaust leak I’ll fix in the process. I think my plan of execution will be: 1- replace fuel pump....

Re: New Guy- Boise ID
I’ve been going into this prepared to spend time and money on it. My job is seasonal so my thinking is that I can do a bunch of stuff during my time off. Hopefully I am not an idiot

Re: New Guy- Boise ID
I looked into the viscous coupler a few days ago and came across this:

I have no idea about who makes good parts and who doesn’t but this seems like it would work?

Re: New Guy- Boise ID
Thanks for the welcome! As far as I can recall he mostly spoke of their transfer cases being shotty so I’ve tried to look into this a lot. I think at this point I’m drawn to a Gen1 because I really like the idea of the mechanical TCs instead of the electronic ones in the later models. Right now I’ve...

New Guy- Boise ID
Hello all! Been lurking around here a bit just gathering information on these vans although sadly I am not an owner... yet. I started yearning for an AWD Astro probably about a year ago and was just about to dig my heels into a search when a local mechanic advised me to steer clear with a laundry li...
