The temp does change with the temp control, heat works great. Installing a shut off was attempted and it did make the ac colder, but it caused the engine to overheat. I've looked into bypasses online, but they look very cheaply made.

Do I need to tear the whole dash apart to see if it's operating?

I'm having an on going issue with ac not getting as cold as it should. When the heater core lines are restricted(totally different discussion), the ac gets colder. Which leads me to believe that there is a damper issue letting in heat where it shouldn't be. Correct me if im barking up the wrong tree...
