Re: Astro stutters and loses power...

Damn, got really bad tonight on the drive home. For the last mile of my drive or so it was basically no power, sputtering like it was running out of gas or about to die, despite the fact that I just filled up yesterday. The heater vents were also blowing extremely hot air. Time to make an appt. w/ t...

Re: Astro stutters and loses power...

Well, got the fuel filter replaced and the van appears to run slightly better, although still stutters at times and is still hard starting. I think I'm going to drop it off at my mechanic and have him look into ignition coil/ plugs/ wires. Since I just bought the van and am going to drive it to denv...

Re: Astro stutters and loses power...

I just bought the van, so I'm pretty sure none of that stuff has been done recently. Are there any tutorials on here for changing plugs/ wires/ cap, and the fuel filter? I've worked on cars in the past, but I'm not super mechanically savvy.

Astro stutters and loses power...

So the other day I was driving home and headed up a steep hill and my 91 stuttered and died. I had noticed that the fuel was pretty low, so I figured that it was just out of gas. I filled it up and it started just fine. The next day I took it on a 2 hour round trip freeway drive for work, and it see...

Re: Thinking about buying an Astro AWD, questions?

Seems pretty solid so far. The transmission downshifts a bit on steep hills, but I've never had an automatic vehicle before, so I'm not sure if this is SOP. Other than the slight dog smell, this thing is cherry. Sunday I'm ripping the interior out w/ my pops and starting to build some sweet stuff. S...

Re: Thinking about buying an Astro AWD, questions?

The van does feel a bit gutless, but then again it is an 91 and I'm coming from driving a turbo audi, so that's to be expected. I drove a co-workers 01 the other day, and while it felt a bit faster than the one I'm looking at, it wasn't signifigant, which made me feel better. As far as the AWD vs. R...

Re: Thinking about buying an Astro AWD, questions?

What kind of work does that involve? Update, I took the van for a test drive tonight. It seems totally rad inside, but felt pretty gutless. I'm used to driving an audi A4, so that may be subjective. Otherwise, seemed like it drove pretty nice, and the chick seemed flexible on price. On another note,...

Re: Thinking about buying an Astro AWD, questions?

What kind of front end work are we talking about? Stuff that I can notice when test driving it? How does that price sound? Thanks.

Thinking about buying an Astro AWD, questions?

First off, apologies if this is a redundant question, or in the wrong forum, but I'm new here. Anyway, I'm thinking about buying a 1991 Astro AWD van, and I stumbled across this (awesome) forum while I was looking for information on these vans, and figured that after lurking for a bit, this would be...
