Well, I think I figured out my intermittant power issue. MAF sensor! I replaced it, last night and now the critter is running perfect again!

Re: What did you do to/with your van today?

Been a while since I've posted anything, but yesterday I replaced the starter on Great A'Tuin.
Took all of 20 minutes start to finish.

Re: What did you do to/with your van today?

Replaced my fuel pump today w/ a Delphi unit. Took a bit under 2 hours start to finish. The van has 250K miles on it, and it was intermittently losing power, like someone dropping an anchor out back. Ran great otherwise. Somebody tell me I spent $265 in the right place! [-o< BTW thanks to ihatemybik...

The sides aren't an issue, but I know from hauling drywall that there will be a seatback issue. You have to squeeze the seats all the way forward.

Re: What did you do to/with your van today?

Ever since I went to the electric fan, the AC doesn't run so cool around town. So I fixed it! I got the Porsche 928 fan at the pick-a-part for $16. Wired it in via one of my SAAB relay. The relay is triggered through the A/C circuit so it only runs when the A/C is on. I just drove around town in 10...

U-Bolt Torsion Bar Tool

When I rebuilt the front end on the Van, I used this tool I made for $30... I soaked the hell out the Torsion bar/Key but it was still a bear to get out. Even with a bit of torch heat and a 3 lb hammer! The other side just slid right out. It must be Cat right above it... ReadytoCompress.jpg KeyBelow...

Re: flight school

Way to go!
When I was a kid my folks first had a Piper TriPacer ( learned to fly in it) and then a Cessna 190 (upgraded w/ R755 Jacobs).
The Cowling for the original Continental engine still hangs in my carport!
Someday I really want to go back for my license.

Made my own tool to release the T-bar. https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-dB_B4To_B3k/TaC82s67DaI/AAAAAAAAMpM/cLC9PTFIntA/s800/pics.gif I went down to my local spring shop and had this 5"x5/8"x9" spring shackle made. While trying to explain what I wanted made, I noticed they already ...

Re: What did you do to/with your van today?

Made my own tool to release the T-bar. Then rebuilt the LF suspension. All new bushings and ball joints. Today I attack the right side.
Now that I understand how it's all done, I should go a bit quicker.

I replaced my driver's door window motor and door handle.
Not too bad of a chore with a bit of assistance from VanGoGo.
Heading out to the mountains tomorrow
Ball joints are next...!

Re: 97 astro rear seat questions about fold out seats

I found a fold-down seat from a conversion Astro in the yard for $35.
It does have quick release mounts so they are out there.
Super handy for stripping the interior for cargo/lumber/motorcycle hauling.
