Re: Disk Brakes and Rotor Replacement Procedure
Jim, This should be a very interesting project you have on the balance of front to rear brakes. The wt of the van(which you have changed)and the wt transfer during hard braking vs normal braking + it being a AWD,should present some challenges that would be very interesting to see you work out.I am su...

Re: Disk Brakes and Rotor Replacement Procedure
So are you saying there was a stock rear disk five lug offered for the Astro/Safari? What years? and can the calipers be upgraded? The SSBC kit to convert is $735.00 which is a bunch of cash. I would rather do the junk yard thing and have stock style because of the cost. Either way, I’m sure there ...

Re: anyone ever weld in a window?
The real question is if I want to cut out the window frames on the side of Ole Yellar or use the windows as a template and weld within the frames.I have a filler panels from a cargo and haven't decided which way would give the best results. :-k In terms of the slider,I have a no window slider and wi...

Re: Wobbly pulley syndrome
Sorry to hear that.I would guess (given that kind of damage) there is nothing salvageable for that engine. It does speak volumes to how tuff these 4.3's are because it still ran.Maybe if all else fails with the money situation,a low mileage junk yard replacement engine might be a low dollar answer ev...

I would think if there are any bearing damage in the engine you would see a huge change in oil pressure. What is the oil pressure???. :-k

Matt: Here is one of the answers I got off one of the RV web site for your fresh water drain.Hope this helps. If you can not see a pipe drain through floor under coach you may have to crawl into a compartment near water tank and look for a valve off water tank. If its under bed may have to do same s...

Re: Shift it myself type of thing
Merlin, I am finding trannies on Car-part.com Cheapest one is $650.00.I don't know your postal zip code so I can't see if there are any junk yards near you that have them.To get this rare tranny you might just have to have one shipped to you and bit the bullet on the shipping charges. You also might ...

Re: Dunedog's gear swap
A great project! Almost makes it seem like anybody could do it. (Don't ever leave Dean. The Astro/Safari world would suffer without you!) Great after this comment and the one Zam made, we now have to enlarge all of our doorways so Deano can fit through. :yawinkle: If you guys think Deano is so grea...
