Re: Heads need rebuilt! Any tips?

We sold it to a Texas couple that doesn't have to smog it, $5800. They drove straight from our SoCal home to Las Vegas, then up to Colorado! We're gonna miss that one! We owned it since new, October of 1997.

Re: Heads need rebuilt! Any tips?

I may run some valve cleaner through it on a long drive, maybe that will be enough.

Re: Heads need rebuilt! Any tips?

For $300, the machine shop will rebuild both heads. The heads/engine/van have 246k.

Heads need rebuilt! Any tips?

MY 246k '98 still runs fantastic and serves multiple purposes for our family. I've been chasing a poor idle for awhile and finally gave up and took it to a mechanic I trust. He ran diagnostics, then a compression test. #4 cylinder is low, valves are bad. I checked machine cost in the SoCal area, $30...

Re: rough idle

hmmm, of the suggestions, these are the only things I haven't explored:
1. Check vacuum
2. Check electrical grounds at studs
4. Check O2 sensor readings on OBD 2 scanner running real time data
6. Check compression at spark plug holes with WOT

Re: rough idle

sheesh, I'm still struggling with this idle condition. I spent nearly $2k on this! New OEM spider, pump, and dizzy. I just installed an aftermarket Air Idle Control valve, no change. What next, any new suggestions? I do have a P300 code as well.

Re: rough idle

thanks Joe. It has a new intake gasket, and new OEM fuel pump too so I expect pressure is also good.

rough idle

I just replaced dizzy , full spider/pump . 241k on motor, very well maintained . Everything has been checked out, tuned-up and cleaned. So I'm struggling to find what else it could be. Idles poor, more so in park, but never stalls. My next step was to inspect hoses for a vacuum leak. Also, the coil ...

Re: P0302 Code and misfire - Not spark...What next

It has good spark, good plug, swapped plugs in fact, and the same. Wondering if it can be fuel injection . I upgraded the FI spider years ago. That being said, one injector feeds all cylinders, correct? How can a single injector affect a single cylinder? I guess if one of the nozzle are clogged. The...

Re: Passenger dash handle

I've swapped this handle out four or five times over the years, all junkyard replacements, they just keep cracking. I can't come to terms paying $160 for a new one. Grrrr, mine is crack now, again!
