What's 7' tall and guaranteed to make your van smell better?

Hello All, Finally getting around to pulling my 94 awd Astro out of mothballs and converting it into the Westy that it wants to be, and the privy question returned. From my time with my 86 Westy, I remember that the lil portapotti worked well, but emptying it was not fun and the lack of privacy gave...

Re: Fishin kayak

Nice boat! I went the other direction though. http://home.comcast.net/~waligomes/van/southy%20%28Small%29.jpg Roofs too high and I like to leave my boats rigged. But mine is more cumbersome to park. I also gave up reverse for shallow draft. (Native vs. Hobie) http://home.comcast.net/~waligomes/pictu...

Re: Homebrew Con-Ferr Style Porthole Roof Rack Build

One main reason why I am still siding with Rustoleum is for future repairs and add-ons. If I decide I want to weld on a new bracket, etc. all I need to due is sand a clean spot, weld and then sand the burned paint around it down and spray a new layer that will even out pretty well. Now with powder ...

Re: Homebrew Con-Ferr Style Porthole Roof Rack Build

WOW excellent work! :supz: I am going to primer it then paint it flat black, rattle can style............ Scratching up an expensive powder coat job would sting Its a bit more expense and work, but Harbor Fright has a downright adequate powder coating gun on sale periodically for $50. You can make a...

Re: Astro Chinook camper (for sale-but that's not the point)

I don't think that one's for me (the color is heinous), but the bed looks kinda interesting. I never thought of putting it on the floor. That would keep you from bumping your head while getting dressed on a platform, but eliminates floor space in sleeping configuration,,,,,,. So? And it might help o...

Re: Rethinking Camperization

It would have been great to cannibalize it, but its my neighbor's son's headach,,ahh project now and I'm on the other side of the country (Jacksonville, FL). Rethinking Camperization

Re: Sealed beam to composite grill wiring DIY with pics

I would have soldered the wires as well as use the shrink tubing. Very nice job, though. I would've too, but I was halfway into the job when I realized my soldering iron was at work, oh well, I made sure the connections were as good as you could get otherwise Thanks!!! Excellent tut!!! But who need...

Be careful what you ask for,,,,

Hello all! <paste T.Low's introduction here> Well, almost. I'm a former North-wet-ner that's been relocated south. Moved to Jacksonville FL 2 years ago from PDX and left my beloved '86 VW Westy there. It'd been parked for 7 years waiting for me to put the 2nd engine I'd built for it in the 5 years b...
