thanks i though that price was pretty good.i wanted to let everyone know what the problem was,i hate doin a search to find threads with someone who has the same problem and they don't update their thread.thanks for your help guys.

up date van is fixed. full ac delco tune up,couple bad wires for the computer now running like new,fuel filter was bad,timeing was off.needed brake line and rear pads .parts and labor 510.00 ,does that sound fair?

i was told it needs to be at zero.can i just put a light on it or does something need to be unplugged?thanks

Unless I have my sensor initials mixed up, there is no MAF (mass air flow sensor) on a 1994. There is, however, a MAP (manifold absolute pressure sensor), and it is a small black rectanglular part that bolts to the upper plenumn and has a couple of wires plugged into it, IIRC. i had the dealer check the codes,they say egr was bad or clogged. i took it off and the pinicle valve is not stuck open.so should i buy a new egr or can it still be cleaned ? when you shake it up and down it has a slight rattle to it.

when i filled it up with gas today.the gas cap did not make that suction sound, that my wifes blazer makes when its low on gas.

i think i might have made a big mistake. when i changed the thermostat i degreased the map sensor and hosed it off,and let it air dry. i hope i did not damage the maf. how would i know if it is bad?

when i bought it,the temp gauge barely went over 100.i put in a new 195 thermostat and it went to 180 - 190 range. it has heat now and gauge is working fine.it runs alot better now but still loads up at idle.i don't know what engine it is,has the spider intake throttle body at front of motor.

no i have not.i will have it checked.i was also wondering if disconnecting the battery to reset the computer would help.

yes it runs rich at idle,it clears out once i start driveing.no missing or anything like that.
