I ave seen strobes and interior sirens wired up to alarms to make them much more effective when it comes to someone stealing stuff though... Yep... but have you ever seen the vehicle smoke screens? Classic stuff. http://www.smokemachines.net/buy-car-smoke-screen-security-system.shtml As funny as th...

NOW, does this rolling tool chest have an alarm??? Fuel cut off switch somewere?? Ignition cut off switch?? Well... I thought it had an alarm when I bought it - but recently I found out that, in fact, all that is still connected is the keyless entry system. http://astrosafarivans.net/bb/viewtopic.p...

An excellent suggestion. That location could work well for me, as I do not have any cargo shelves in the back, there's no room for them with all the tools I carry. ;) But I believe I could basically build a box around the sub box to keep from tools damaging the subs - or the subs damaging the tools....

It turns out the keyless entry system is tied into the Prestige APS-255. I was told by the original owner that it was a stock alarm, and since there was no logo on the remote I just didn't question that. But it definately is not a GM remote, the the model number on the back of the remote matches the...

New Astro Owner On Board

Hi all.

I recently joined the AstroSafarians when I purchased my '00 2WD astro cargo van about 2 months ago.

So far, I have found this (and a couple other) sites to be priceless resources. I look forward to future interactions with the membership here.

Had this same kind of problem with bolts many times while rebuilding a '74 super beetle many years ago. I suppose the differing metals in the block and the bolts expand and contract at different rates from heating & cooling, and over time some of those bolts just sieze in there like rock. If you...

Sorry for dragging up an old thread here, but I wanted to pass along a tip that saved me a TON of $$: If you like Kenwood equipment, I know of a dealer that offers wholesale pricing. I happen to be local to this dealer (San Diego, CA), and have been a regular walk-in customer for some time. I do NOT...

Locations for sub mount in cargo van?

OK, so I am planning to install a sub system in my cargo van... but I am having a hard time making a decision as to the mount location for the sub box. The amp can be bolted in under the drivers seat without a problem... but I need the subs to be out of the way, due to my carrying of a ton of tools ...

As a car electronics installer with years of experience, I can say that I have, in fact, installed aftermarket head units in a few '00 - '05 Astro Cargo vans and have always found the same exact harness connection. Here's a link to a PDF document someone might find helpful - it offers basic diagrams...

2000 cargo 2wd - removal of stock alarm

So I bought a 2000 astro cargo about 2 months ago... drove over a speed bump the other day and was presented with a surprise: the Prestige (Audiovox) APS255 alarm control unit dropped out from under the dash to expose the harness connection point - where almost all the wires have been cut. I am assu...
