Re: Question for 4x4 owners

Thanks for the replies. The dealership couldn't find anything and just told me that it may be normal--they suggested maybe difference between manual t-case and electronic one (mine is manual). My thinking is i should train the t-case and see if the fluid has any metal in it... Anyway, at least both ...

Question for 4x4 owners

Dumb question for all you manual 2 speed t-case owners. How much noise is normal when you're running in 4Hi?

Re: jack-o-lantern pic thread

I'd contribute, but the stinking deer in my area knocked our 2 jack-o-lanterns to the ground and ate them.

Re: Stroless...

Update: If someone can come up with a way to stick a new 5.3 L Vortec in an Astro, that would be very good. That new engine generates an unbelievable amount out horsepower. Truck doesn't know whether it's a workhorse or a track vehicle... The 5.7 is probably sufficient, but the 5.3 is getting better...

Stroless...

A sad week... I'd like to thank all you for all of the help and this forum where I have been able to contribute the how-tos. But after looking at all my van's issues, I realized it needed much more time and money than I had to give it--catalytic converter (you guy's were right on that one), transmis...

O2 Sensor on Cat Converter

For the O2 sensor on the catalytic converter--a couple questions.
1. Before I go back under, where on the cat will I find it?
2. How is removed (simple unbolt or what)/

Thanks for all the help so far.

No, and that's what's freaky. The PO101 code only shows as pending when I hook my reader up.

Re: Need Help--SOS

That's the weird thing. No transmission codes. I'd have expected something when the overrun clutches went--I assume that's the horrible noise I hear at low or no gas pedal pressure around and above 55 mph or so...

Need Help--SOS

:banghead: PLEASE HELP. I'M GETTING DESPARATE. Either my 2003 AWD Astro with 124,000 miles is suffering from major multi-organ failure and needs to be taken off the road until I can do a lot of major repairs, or there is likely a single underlying cause to all of this. Many of you know some of my tr...

Thank You oh dear Lord Obama and all of Your Chronies! The was an excellent way to bail out Government Motors and protect all of those executives--it's not like many Chevies are made in the US anymore! On another note, some people are morons. There Austin Martins and some later model BMWs on that li...

Dodge Dakota question

While I was out today I saw what would make the PERFECT beater for me while I garage the Astro and bring it back to the condition I need it in. It was a 4WD Dodge Dakota for $3500. It looked to have what appeared to be a 8' bed. But I thought all the Dakotas had 6 or 7' beds. I didn't measure it, so...

Re: Just threw code P0420!

I just looked on Rock Auto. They have one from Eastern Catalytic Converters (part 50294) for about $300. Will this job require any welding? How difficult is it to do?

Re: Just threw code P0420!

No emissions testing in my county, fortunately. So, I cleared the codes when I was out today. One was pending, one was already posted--hence the engine light. Then I drove 30 miles home. No more codes over that distance. Anyway, before I cleared it, I got the freeze frame data. Here it is, if it mea...
