Re: Solid Axle Swap and 4x4 conversion of 1996 LS 2WD
sorry for the lack of pics. unfortunately i needed cash fast(at this point i don't even remember why) and turned in 3 vehicles for scrap, all of which made me sad. one was my 94 caprice police package station wagon, one was my 76 c30 dually, and one was the 4x4 astro project. either way i miss the v...

Re: Ontraio lake not frozen what kind of spring/summer??
already feeling the effects in cleveland. i have a house on the east side up in the pounded by lake effect snow belt about 2 blocks south of the lake(erie). the lake usually freezes out as far as you can see. this year not at all. the ice normally doesn't break up until mid-late april after a normal...

it's covering the welded seam, easier to make a rubber or trim than to bodywork/fill the whole seam at the factory.

Re: laptop stand thoughts
had one in my crown vic that swung between both seats, it was great. for vacations we got a GPS program and antenna and had a massive navigation computer, and we could park outside anywhere with wireless and check hotel rates and stuff. i still have the mount and not planning on using it anytime soo...

Re: Good price or not???
I stand behind what I said, and will say it again. A 1500 dollar van is not a good long-term business investment. buying a $25,000 van is not a good long term business investment. i can get 8 years out of it @ 25k miles a year/junk it with 200k. that van costs a little over 3 grand a year over its ...

Re: i got sick of failing e-check so i bought something old
yeah the manual brakes don't inspire much confidence when stopping. supposedly the astro hydroboost booster/master is compatible with the booster bracket i found to mount to the firewall. so i will pull that from my 96 before i take it in. i'll have to keep the pump too. i am a hydroboost fan, i alw...

i got sick of failing e-check so i bought something old
the 96 blazer failed emissions and has a dead OBD port(no, its not a blown cig lighter fuse) so it is extremely tough to diagnose. i got sick of throwing parts at it and still failing the test, so i transferred the dead astro's commercial plates over to it so i wouldnt have to do emissions testing. ...

Re: i think i killed my van
lots of aluminum in new audis. it's officially done, it seems trying to get it home with dead alt may have fried something as it wont even try to fire even on starting fluid. i took off the insurance and transferred tags to the blazer, i will be heading south in april to look for a clean plain white...

Re: i think i killed my van
i had a lumina APV before the string of astros. the plastic body looked great, the suspension pickup points on the unibody rusted out.
i looked for a few minutes on CL for one of those but i believe most of them are dead and gone by now.

you still have rockers?
i put the cladding on to cover up the fact that the body is gone a foot up the left side.

Re: i think i killed my van
they salt the crap out of the roads in the winter. it rots everything. my sonoma is from florida, my impala is from north carolina. i have a habit of buying my toys down south and buying rusty cleveland cars for everything else. my 3500 is getting ready to blow rust holes in its second set of cab co...
