Re: AstroSafari KILLAZZZ
You Know... I find it funny that, The Fords are made Overseas and the Nissan is made Stateside. We shall see who will Win the Hearts of the AstroSafari Gang . Jim I'm hearing that Ford will be building the next-gen Transit Van at their Avon Lake plant in Ohio which had been producing the Econoline.

Re: AstroSafari KILLAZZZ
Hey Derek, Could you tell me where you found the MPG figures at? I haven't been able to find them. Thanks, Jim From an about.com test drive (page 3): "My afternoon of mixed freeway and city driving in a V8-powered high-roof NV2500 yielded a mere 12.6 MPG, and that was with the cargo bay empty....

Re: AstroSafari KILLAZZZ
Been watching the low-roof NV for a little while, but 12 MPG and the much larger footprint are making me think twice. A quick thought of how much an AWD will be when they arrive gives me the shivers. Adding some customization to suit my needs unfortunately puts it way over the top. Holding on to the...

Re: Rancho shocks won't fit AWD
Okay, my installer said that my 5150s that I bought from Summit don't fit either.
Everywhere I look it says the 5150s will fit my 2000 AWD in front.
What am I gonna do?

Re: some thoughts today
In 2000, I, the wife, and another couple flew to Aspen. A nice taxi guy drove us and all our gear to LAX. I remarked about how nice his taxi was and how it carried everything so well. "400,000 miles, same engine, same transmission", says he. Astro. At Aspen, a nice taxi lady was there to w...

Rear Sway Bars for 2000 AWD?
Having a tough time finding 'em. Helwig states no, Belltech shows only 2WD. Suggestions?

Re: Coolant Temperature Fluctuating Wildly
Turns out that I have a coolant leak up near the intake manifold. I had checked the coolant level not too long ago, and it was good. Therefore I thought that I was having another issue. Checked it again as per the input on this page, and sure enough - low. I wasn't having the obvious signs of a leak...

Coolant Temperature Fluctuating Wildly
At cruise, the coolant temperature holds relatively properly. In stop and go traffic, it will frequently dip below normal and heater starts blowing cool. Occasionally it will dash towards the redline, 'check gauges' light illuminates momentarily, then settles back into the normal range. I'm hoping t...

Paint or Wrap?
On the to-do list for the Astro re-hab is an exterior spruce-up. Most obviously I have been thinking of a new coat of white paint. But it seems that vinyl wrapping of vehicles has developed beyond being just a rolling billboard for Company XYZ. There are lots of new small businesses that have the wh...

2000 White Astro AWD, stock LS. Bought in 2001, was ex-rental from Enterprise. It had 25k miles and bought it for $16K out the door. It now has 192k miles. If they were still making the Safari/Astro, I'd buy a 2011. I've been familiar with Overland for many years and am now looking forward to many m...
