Thanks. Hope so. My 2001 had 289k miles on it when I sold it. Original engine and transmission and still running strong.MountainManJoe wrote: ↑Mon Feb 05, 2024 2:31 pm Amazing. Looks really clean, Joe, and still has many miles in it.

New van
I’m not a new member but do have a new van. 1997 Astro LS AWD, 160k miles. Cherry
. This summer it will be built for the rigors of Baja. Should never have sold the last one.

S10 leaf springs
Do you need to swap the S10 leaf springs with the rear facing forward when installing on an Astro? I thought I read that somewhere but don’t remember doing it on my last van several years ago.

AstroPhysics: Did you get the gear upgrade and True Trac? If so, what do you think so far?

I don't know about a truck topper but check out a video (youtube I think) called Compassing. It's about a surfer that built a high top for his van. Good luck with your project.

Re: No spare tire on my dutch doors, what about fuel cans?
I've been carrying the Rotopak 2 gallon gas can on my driver's side for 3 years now with no problems. I only use it when I go to Baja each winter and it has held up to the rough roads (and vibration) with no problems.

Passenger side headlamp issue
Okay. Replaced the driver's side headlamp (lower), still dim. Replaced plug to headlamp, still dim. Checked with tester, juice is getting to the headlamp. Any ideas why it is still dim? Baffled in White Salmon.

Re: My 2000 AWD 8" Lift from South Florida
Beautiful vans! What other mods do you have to make when you go with higher lifts? Longer brake lines? What else?
I have 3" body pucks with slight torsion bar adjustment up front and heavy duty S10 springs and shackles in the rear which gives me
about 4-4 1/2" of lift.

Yeah, Punta Abreojos is a good place to chill. Without some mis-adventure an adventure is no adventure at all.

Re: What did you do to/with your van today?
Just got back from Baja California "adventure" trip. Lots of surfing, windsurfing and some unintentional traversing of 70 miles of serious "Baja 1000" terrain. Changed flat tire half way thru (3" cut in sidewall) and noticed a slight leak in rear differential. Got back to ci...
