Re: 98 Safari Erratic starting
It seems to have been starting good the last few days. The strange thing is before I discovered the HV leakage at the coil, I did have spark at the distributor that would arc blue over an 1/8 inch gap on the spark gap tester. Why it wouldn't fire is a mystery.

Re: 98 Safari Erratic starting
Again the other day it wouldn't start in the morning, so I pulled the doghouse and checked for spark with my spark gap tester; it seemed fine. After putting the plug wire back on the distributor that I was testing on, I noticed an arcing noise when I cranked the engine again. Looking towards the coi...

98 Safari Erratic starting
My 98 Safari has been getting erratic as far as starting. Once running it seems to be fine. Fuel pressure comes up to 61 psi right away, although the fuel pump seems to be running for a lengthy period of time when the ignition is switched on before cranking. Leaf spring swap
My 97 Safari back springs are bottoming out; they are steel leaves. I haul approximately 600lbs of tools and materials and would like to beef up the rear springs. Would a set of springs from a GM 1/2 ton truck bolt up? I haven't really had a close look yet at the spring setup in the Safari.

4L60E starts in second gear
I have a 98 Safari. Is it normal for the transmission to start in 2nd when the gear selector is placed in 2nd gear? I thought it should start in 1st and upshift to 2nd.

Adding leaf springs
I have a 97 safari AWD that I use for service. I have about 500 pound of cargo in the back at all times, and there is only about 1 inch of clearance between the axle tube and the rubber bumper stops on the frame; the steel springs are just about straight. Can I add and additional leaf or two to beef...
