Re: factory amp questions..
I found the wiring diagram for the rear speakers online, so I went ahead and bypassed the factory amp. I have a passive EQ with the line line outs going to the amp. everything sounds great, with the exception of a loud buzz when I turn the power on, and there is a background hum when the engine is r...

factory amp questions..
hello fellow astrofari owners! I have a 1998 Astro LS, with the factory "subs" in the dutch doors. they were crackling and vibrating, so I unplugged them, used the factory speaker leads and hooked them into a 450 watt amp, pushing a pair of 300 watt 8 inch subs in truck boxes. they worked ...

Re: 98 astro engine codes.
after driving the van for almost a week, the CEL was still on. called Midas Muffler and arranged to have the cat cut out and a new one welded in ($220 CDN + government retirement fund fees..). got there and he decided to clear the codes one last time just to make sure that it is a cat that needs to ...

Re: 98 astro engine codes.
everything swapped out, let my son crawl under and bust his knuckles getting 1 and 6 plugs in. hehe so far it's running 100x better, checked for power bleeding from the wires, and not even 1 spark! but.. the CEL is still on. I'm hoping that after a day or so of driving the cat efficiency code will c...

Re: 98 astro engine codes.
just had the van back at the shop for the CEL. different shop, different ODB2 computer. this one showed misfires on ALL cylinders, so I was told it was a combination of bad wires and coil, and more than likely the cap and rotor too. so I already hit the parts supplier, got coil, rotor, cap and (this...

Re: Spark Plugs in a 2003 Astro
changing plugs were a piece of cake on the 93 Astros, but the 98 I have not, not so much.. last plug change was done by Midas in Welland, ON, and it cost me $75, I supplied the plugs. I did the wires, the shop did the plugs.. by having the shop do it, I managed to save a lot of knuckle skin that cou...

I was digging around good old ebay a few weeks ago and came across an awesome looking wood trim that went around the instrument cluster. didn't have the cash to order, so I waited. stupid me, didn't bother to watch it so I could go back and order it. now it's long gone. I've seen it as a full wood t...

I have a 17' travel trailer (full height, not pop-up) that has a dry weight of 2775 lbs. by the time I add all the needed gear for a fishing trip the gross weight is well over 3000 lbs. first time I dragged it, I noticed that the engine temp started climbing. so I got out and started checking things...
