Re: Did some "real" towing with the 'Stro today.
PS...these trannies don't adapt shift to driving styles like some do. My wife's 2005 Trailblazer did and I am sure many of the cars do as well. Astro's and Safari's did not. We will have to agree to disagree on this one, but suggest if you have a 4L60E especially in the GEN III's next time you plug...

Re: Did some "real" towing with the 'Stro today.
The heavy hitter is fuel economy. The colder the fluid, the higher the losses in the trans. The higher the losses, the mover power to move down the road. More power means more fuel. There is a reason you can find operating temperature numbers.

Re: Did some "real" towing with the 'Stro today.
Knowing how hot these trannies will run while towing, I would go for the size a bunch of us used in the cooler install thread. That kit also comes with all the proper fittings and mounting brackets you can use. The size is 1.5" x 11" x 11" and the brand/part number is Tru-Cool #4590....

Ok, I read the how to on the trans cooler install, and I have put on my Cherokee, so no newbie there. However I cannot find the how to on removing the grill on the van. I keep reading about hidden screws? Thanks for the help.LiftedAWDAstro wrote:You definitely want an aux trans cooler.

Re: Did some "real" towing with the 'Stro today.
Point taken about the trans cooler. So I have the 8 wire harness in the rear. I have the orange and blue up front. However I have the 3.42 gears, so is it possible that the trailer tow package was something other than the axle being the 3.73. Maybe wiring, and different fan clutch or some thing like...

Re: Turned up the front
Thought about the airshocks, I have them on my cherokee. But I went with 4 Sensatracs instead, that was 3 weeks ago. And to night I turned up the front go figure, now I want a little more in the back.

Nice FE numbers but please do tell the secret to the 25mpg on the highway. I am lucky to be getting 19mpg at 70 or 75 mph it doesn't matter.

Turned up the front
So I have always thought the van was a little low in the front, took measurements and sure enough it was. So I threw it up on the alightment rack tonight and set everything up. Everything was in spec. but more to one side of the spec. Went under the van cranked up the bolts on the bars 6 turns and t...

Re: New to board. New to Us 2003 AWD Majestic Converstion
We got the van for what seemed a fair price, $8K out the door. I found it on a used car lot, I hate buying that way, but we had been searching for a while and my wife really like this one. It was missing the running boards when we bought it but Majestic was just up the road and was able to get a new...
