4.3 TBI.... 1 Injector doesn't fire randomly!

Hello, 91 astro with a 4.3 TBI motor. Randomly the truck will hesitate (could be for a second or over 40 seconds) and sometime stall when sitting at a light. (When stalled, it will start back up right away) Well, i did some investigating and found out that when this happens, one of the injectors sto...

Re: That could be the problem?

It was the rear joint that went out.
I managed to change the springs and it lifted the truck 1.75" :D :D

The brackets were from the same truck I got the springs which were in good condition.

Sadly I still have a vibration issue :(

Thanks for all the help DYLIH :prayer:

vibration issues :(

Well, recently the u joint went out on me, started to make a grinding noise. Replaced the joint and then the truck started to have a vibration at 45 kms and up and saw that the shaft had a small dent. Got another shaft and now it vibrates at 95 kms + ](*,) ](*,) What should I start looking at to see...

Re: That could be the problem?

The van drove really smooth, then the u joint went out. I did noticed the the drivers side spring was frayed half way through, and I saw rub marks on the wheel well. The passengers side is in good condition. I managed to grab some shackles from a 2000 so I will be doing the swap tomorrow. Hopefully ...

Re: Steel leaf swap?

What kind of trouble are you having getting the shackle out? Not sure how/if the Gen1/Gen2 differ, but on my '03 there were two ways to get to the head of the shackle bolt. There's a slot in the "tube" that you can put an open-ended wrench into, or there was a big hole on the inside edge ...

Re: Steel leaf swap?

you will find that the shackles from a fiber leaf spring are 3" wide, steel are 2.5" wide. I used 3" wide shackles and I use them on my 2.5" springs no prob, but I used a 1/4" spacer plate on each side to make up the difference. Hmm, thanks! I guess i'll have to struggle ge...

Steel leaf swap?

Alright, so i managed to get some steel leafs with the front mount, however the rear shackles are a :butthead: to get out. I couldnt manage to get one out, so i was looking at my van and the shackles look about the same? http://www.autoandtrucksprings.com/products/Chevy_GMC_Astro_Safari_Leaf_Spring_...

Re: That could be the problem?

Well, I was planning on metal leafs anyways since it will make it easier to lower it ;)
I'm just hoping that is the problem! If not my van will be down longer than I'd like :(

Re: That could be the problem?

Yepper. That would do that.I suggest while you at it,go to the pick and pull junk yard and get later model steel leafs for both sides.Make sure you get everything that is bolted to the later model Astro(front mounts etc). Z That was my plan for today, however we have a long weekend and everything is...

Re: That could be the problem?

Thanks!

The transmission mount is in good condition!
The only thing i changed was the u joint, which gave out on the way home and made a grinding/chirping noise.

Now the only problem is a vibration at 45ish km's and up which will mostly go away when im off the gas.
