Re: Allow me to introduce The Van

Lol Augie, I liked the astro when I saw them in '95. Warmed up to the 1st generation when I decided to do the motor swap and talked with Stan. DRZ or on this site HPbyStan. He posted about the green LS he did, and then sold, spoke of having done seven swaps like it was an everyday thing. He and many...

Re: New member old van

My uncle would have killed for a high top extended. he had a flooring company when I was a kid so he got the long van as soon as it was available. Imagine putting a 12 foot roll of carpet into a van you can't stand in, that stuff and the foam rubber under pad is freaking HEAVY! I was a little kid le...

Re: is G van 4WD conversion possible

Hey Mark, If you want to 4wd or awd a G van forget about the astro parts for conversion. Full size truck and K series are closer to the G van platform.
Google "4wd g van, quigley conversions" with the year your interested in and you should find some info.

Re: How do I remove stuck wheel hub

Call on it. I've had more than one part, oddball stuff like a throttle cable for my '93 where info online was dubious. After speaking w/ a human actually tracked down what I was after.
May take a few calls but worth it.

Hey Nick! Welcome.
Did you get that via auction? Many here have already done the same jobs you're taking on restoring and keeping these beauties on the road.
We all enjoy pics, more please...

Re: What % tint is the factory glass on 2005 Safari?

Sound advise, I have an '05 but w/no tint. Loud 'n lifted but no tints! lol Here in CT I know there are laws but they are blatantly ignored and only once in my lifetime have I seen them enforced. Working here I'm often in NY state and have had helpers running tints pulled over using that as a reason...

Re: SixSix Mike n' Jeannie's '92 Astro

I got a similar kit, used on a bumper cover for the bride. I may use it in larger areas on the backside where it won't be seen.

Re: Acceleration and AC Blower Issues

Vacuum is an easy fix to many common issues. Replace every piece you can get to and the check valve. Eliminate that as a possibility and have one less gremlin in the van.

Re: Rear Disc Brakes

I have not done this to any van but do have a first gen (11' upgrade rear mentioned below) and 3rd generation (disc rear) astro. I don't notice a difference and I tow with both. That said I did play with the front discs on a '97 astro while upgrading the suspension to carry more weight. I found a ch...

Re: What did you do to/with your van today?

I never understood why the manufacturers went away from the floor vents. The chevys had a stamped sheet metal door with a 5 cent sheet metal latch that worked a charm. Instead they added another complication to a hvac system that already had issues. I don't remember a "vent" in the later c...

Re: Allow me to introduce The Van

Such a clean little van. I have never been able to keep any vehicle clean and tidy for more than a day.
