Re: Stalling, hard starting in warm weather.

Dielectric grease, use it. You mentioned it would crank slow like a weak battery, look close at the starting and charging circuits, behind the battery I believe you'll find fusible links, 4 IIRC and also look through the harness that runs across the cowl. I had similar issues a couple years ago in m...

Re: Tank Drop

Lol, many folks cut an access panel and even more will spend countless days arguing on the internet calling it sacrilege. Personally, I have a nice shop, couple different ways of lifting and lowering a full tank if needed and I have AAA towing so I have no need for a hatch. If I were often offroad w...

Re: Broken Hood Cable

Welcome to the site, I just had the same problem on a '93 astro. I unbolted the hood hinges, then I was able to hold the back up w/ a couple blocks of 2x4. I was able to move the latch with a long rod that I welded a nail on the end to make a hook. It was a 3' long 1/2' x 1/8' . If you look at the p...

Re: G van engine swap and wiring.

I did a swap, '93 g20 350 CI into my '93 safari to replace the 4.3. IIRC the g20 wiring was identical to the safari in that the computer was engine and trans only not into the cabin. There is a bulkhead connector behind the battery of the safari that does the fusebox at the driver's feet that I did ...

Re: Tank Drop

Put the van up as high as you can. I've done this twice in the past month, my '05 astro first. And now my new to me '93 in the middle of it waiting for a new tank. Siphon out what you can, if you have a transmission jack it will make life much easier. I have 4, 6 ton stands right at the top. Let the...

Re: 100,000 checkup

Like Joe said, maintain. Use the right fluids. The transfer case can be picky. Flush the cooling system, use whatever antifreeze you like but don't mix n' match. I like the green but astro came with dexfool. DON"'T mix anything with this but new dexcool. I don't care if the bottle says "un...
