Re: Won't Start Cold without Starting Fluid
It's probably been covered elsewhere, but the 98 Stro won't start if it's been resting for a few hours without the aid of starting fluid. Possible problems: Bad fuel pump Bad fuel filter Any suggestions? Had the same problem, eventually it got worse, stalling out, sluggish acceleration. I think you...

Re: Wheel And Tire Information
Got a friend who is going to let his car get repo'd snf he asked if I want the new tires. They are 225-16 and look in great shape, not many miles. They are on ford product. I would have to find 16" rims if I wanted them. Any suggestions of what cars or trucks to look for with a set of stock 16'...

Re: Disabling headlights
If you have Daytime Running Lights your van must be newer than an 89. There is a switch for that purpose. Daytime Running Lights turn off this way. Step on parking brake until it clicks - only once. 1 click = Not hard enough to set the brake, but it will shut off the lights. I found the relay in th...

Re: Battery not charging
Charging problems all sorted out. The tester at the parts store wouldn't even run my alternator, I think what they call the lamp circuit failed and it wouldn't even spin it up. Might have even broke the machine at the first place. :yikes: New alternator and I'm back to merely driving my van which is...

Disabling headlights
I have to limp around from plug to plug to a few places while I get charging issues resolved. If I had my preference I would have a switch to turn off the headlights in the day under these conditions. As it is, I have to find which fuse or relay I need to pull to shut them off in the daytime, but re...

Re: Battery not charging
Okay, Cleaned up big wire contacts up top, and I had a friend use his voltage meter under the hood while I went through a few starts and rev's on the motor. He said as RPM's went up there was no corresponding draw on the battery, nor was there any charging. Connection problem somewhere? No indicatio...

Re: Battery not charging
If you're not getting 14V @ idle then it's your alternator or the link from it to your battery. Wal-Mart gave full credit for the battery, but still hovering just under 12 volts running. Managed to make it home with the new battery where I can work on it. Is this a link behind the battery or one un...

Re: Battery not charging
Right after replacing my grill after trans cooler installation my idiot light for battery came on, guage shows 12v charging rate, usually it is 14 plus. I guess I will go with this information and proceed. What electric device did you disconnect? I would start simply at the battery cable. Good Luck...

Re: bucking at hwy speed
I wouldn't rule out a fuel delivery problem, especially if it has become progressively worse over time.
Could it be a fuel filter or pump?

Re: Transmission Cooler
I only added about a little over half a 12 oz. can of trans-x last January when the trouble first noticed. On a long trip to Texas it again appeared a month ago, and then on shorter trips on the hiway it would slam into second after it was hot and back in stop and go traffic. After adding the cooler...

Is there a way to post small 68 k byte pictures here without sending them to a host like photobucket or image shack first?
