Re: Anyone running LT tires at this point?
I ran one set of LTs on my high-top and preferred them. The van wallowed a lot and the stiffer tires helped. it currently sits on a set of cheap Wal Mart A/Ts (p-metric) down in my shop, but that was because I was poor last time it needed tires.

Re: Mounting a jeep winch bumper on my lifted 95
I'm not sure I'm a good candidate given how infrequent my check-ins have been... But that being said, I'm probably a better choice at this point!

Poor ASV. There was a time when this post would have had tons of responses! Sadly, I just saw it today!
Cool project!

Re: Bittersweet news
I get it. My van continues to sit in my shop in pieces. I still have full plans getting it on the road, but so many other projects take priority. And yeah, I ain't getting any younger.

Re: AWD Rack and Pinion install
Very cool! I'll be anxious to hear how it works out long term. Obviously my van is far from being on the road, but this is an upgrade that is on my radar for the future.

Re: lets watch some videos
This is pretty sweet! As I commented on the video itself, I'd have liked to see this in a '98 or earlier van with the viscous t-case. This one performed really well though. My daily driver is an AWD Suzuki SX-4. With the stability control electronics engaged, it is actually scary to try and drive fa...

Re: R.I.P. T.Low you will be missed
I met Tom twice. The first time was before his diagnosis when he showed up at my door on a Sunday morning. He was in town visiting friends and decided to look me up before he left. I was happy he did! The second time was on a four wheeling trip where I was able to watch his van in action. He was in ...

Re: I'm now a registered member of ALS forum
Wow, I'd actually searched obits in the Bellingham area in the past, figuring Tom had passed. Having had another friend pass from ALS, it seems Tom lived longer than many. Such a terrible disease. Unfair. I met Tom twice. Once he showed up on my doorstep out of the blue. He was good friends with a f...

Re: Airbags for a 4” lifted van
I haven't looked at the airbag system for our vans closely, but it seems the easiest solution would be to buy an Astro/Safari kit and just extend the upper or lower bag mount the lifted amount. Just a bit of welding I'd guess. (In theory, I'll face this one day myself as I'm hoping to someday use my...

Re: Winch capacity for AStro AWD, Warn M8000 vs M10000, vs V
I see no reason to go greater than a quality 8,000 lb winch. If you can't get yourself out with 16,000 lb worth of pull (double line), then maybe you are too stupid to be out in the woods in the first place. :muhaha: I've got to think too that given the capability of most 4x4 Astro/Safari vans, comm...
