Re: What's next???

Thanks, guys, for the responses and all the help over the last 5 years. This Safari has been quite an experience (read- expensive and time -consuming)and this will in all likelyhood, be my final post on our beloved forum. Alas, I have moved on. I just bought a 2009 Nissan Pathfinder with 90,000 km o...

What's next???

The other day, I noticed that the cladding was pulling away from the cladding on my'04 Safari. While attempting to re-attach it, I saw the problem- there's nothing to attach it to!! The rockers on both sides are literally not there! Given that I've put over $4000 into this van in the last 2 years an...

Re: Well, gonna attempt cleaning my front abs sensors tomorr

Success!!!! 3 and 1/2 hours of toiling in the hot sun with an impact wrench and some liquid wrench and I got the front hubs replaced with aftermarket ones from Autoparts Warehouse ($55 apiece). Everything was rusted and seized and took considerable effort, but it was all worth it. The ABS system wor...

Thanks, Stroverlander and Wiley. Got new front hubs ordered while I was at it. Might as well do it right.

Re: Well, gonna attempt cleaning my front abs sensors tomorr

No lights on, but the abs groans and slips at low speed. Tried to get at it today, but I don't have the proper size torx to remove the calipers. Anyone know what size it is so I can go pick one up and try again next weekend (time's tight)? I'm just gonna pull the abs fuse for now and get used to the...

Well, gonna attempt cleaning my front abs sensors tomorrow!

I've had my abs kicking on at low speed for a few months now and it seems to be getting worse. Did a little searching and reading on the subject but I'd like to hear from the experts or anyone who's done this in the past. I've got around 4 hours to get this done- am I being realistic?? Any tips from...

Re: What did you do to/with your van today?

I removed front and rear wiper arms, which were peeling and looked crappy, painted them with black truck bed liner and replaced them. Small job- big difference (to me anyways).

Re: I miss my Astro

My sympathies. I was 8 years between my 1990 Astro and my 2004 Safari and, while I've had a lot of issues lately with the newer one, nothing else fits my needs so well. I have 2 large dogs (doodle and mastiff) and we tow a trailer in the summer. While mine is not AWD, nothing else will do the job in...

Interior lights question

:-s A few weeks ago, I noticed that the interior lights quit coming on when the doors were opened. I can still turn them on from the button on the dash, but I really miss the automatic on function. Any ideas what could be causing this?? Fuse maybe? Seems unusual that none of the doors will cause the...

Re: What did you do to/with your van today?

Safari kev, same thing happened to me on Monday during the cold snap. These things are real brutes to drive without power steering and power brakes. Apparently, it's a pretty crappy job to replace it- glad it wasn't me working on it.
