Re: Power locks and keyless installation in a cargo van.
Today I locked my keys in my van showing off my keyless entry. Hahah. I activated the side sliding door actuator by using a 12 volt battery, a pair of jumper cables, and 2 flat screwdrivers. Much cheaper then a locksmith or AAA. David EDIT: For directions on how to use these tools to get into your v...

I had to have this for my Safari cargo van
I saw this at ACE hardware today for $14. Fits perfect. Made of metal and holds 6 cans. I believe this was designed for garage storage - not anymore.
Sorry about the blurry photo but you get the idea.

Re: Power locks and keyless installation in a cargo van - UP
UPDATE... I connected the 20 second dome light wire on the TRW receiver so my dome light would go on when I unlocked the door remotely. I also connected the lock wire to the parking lights so they would flash when I locked the car. I connected the horn to the unlock wire but it was too loud so I dis...

Stripping and Polishing Aluminum Rims
I picked up a set of aluminum rims. 2 of which needed to cleaned. I bought heavy duty paint stripper from Lowes and carefully applied it to one rim at a time. It took about 3 applications to strip the rim. I was careful not to get any stripper on the gray area which still looked nice. I used 320 san...

Power locks and keyless installation in a cargo van.
I purchased a 1997 Safari cargo van. The sliding door and rear door was wired for power locks. The van also had the door lock control module and the door lock relay in the passenger kick panel. I went to the junkyard and harvested 4 actuators, rod brackets, both wiring harnesses for the front doors,...

Re: Power Steering Question(s)
Update. I found a used pump at the junkyard on a 97 Astro cargo van for $40. There were no leaks on the pump anywhere (as of yet). I removed the pump and left the high pressure hose intact. I installed the pump on my 97 Safari cargo van and currently there are no leaks. I did speak with a tech at Ca...

Re: Power Steering Question(s)
Thank you for the reply. Since my original post I was able to get the PS to work. The problem was one of the o-rings was in the wrong place on the EVO. That is the good news. The bad news is that after 10 minutes one of the new o-rings on the EVO gave out and all the PS fluid immediately leaked out....

Power Steering Question(s)
I have a 1997 Safari Cargo Van and a 1999 Astro Cargo Van. I just changed the PS pump in the 97 Safari. The power steering and power brakes now do not work. I followed strict bleeding instructions on this site and attempted bleeding numerous times. The 97 Safari has power steering pump mounted GM EV...
