Re: How much would a shop charge me

Heck, I don't even jack the van up when I change out the plugs and wires. I just crawl under the van and get dirty! Like was said, a basic socket set, with a few different extentions (wobble extensions are great for this). The tip about the rubber hose for installing the plugs is invaluble. 1, it al...

Re: Questions concerning water pump replacement

How did you make out? I would keep the OEM pump if possible. Often the aftermarket ones are junk. Well... I haven't... I'm contemplating doing it myself - just because I'm broke and don't want to pay a fortune in labor costs. but as you mentioned with the aftermarket parts, you never know what you ...

Questions concerning water pump replacement

So I was driving around the other day, and smelled coolant after I stopped. A quick look at the engine, and it appears that the gasket behind the water pump is leaking. I didn't see any fluid, just that familiar white dried up residue. Now, I'm fairly certain I would be able to change it out myself,...

Re: New carpets

This is something I have looked into quite a bit.. When I bought my van, I knew I wanted to replace the carpeting.. it is just horrible. Now I have looked at a few websites and talked to a few people and they recommended Auto Custom Carpets.. Here's the website: http://www.accmats.com/ Now, they are...

Re: How COLD is it?

Well, it is "officially" freezing here!!! A bonafide 32*F! And I love it!

It's kind of a weird "cold" though.. I've been in much warmer weather and it felt colder than this...I guess that's the beauty of no wind!!

But the best part about this cooler weather, NO MOSQUITOS!!

Re: So When Does This Decade Really End?

Hey Squidly, Think of the calendar as a stop watch, and like a stop watch it started at zero. After a year had elapsed the date would have been Dec. 31. The following day would have been Jan. 1, 1 a.d. At the "end" of the ninth year, Dec. 31, 9 a.d. 10 complete years would would have gone...

Re: How COLD is it?

I think we ought to abduct those people claiming sub-tropical temperatures and bring them up here -- DRESSED AS THEY ARE! We aren't claiming "sub-tropical temperatures", we have tropical temperatures here! Today, 81*F with a humidity index making it feel like 86*F!! Heck, aside from dress...

Re: Remember Pearl Harbor please...

I actually visited Hawaii last year and spent a day at Pearl Harbor. Visited the USS Arizona memorial too. Very moving. The ship is still leaking bubbles of oil to this day. Sobering to think that you are standing over the remains of thousands of brave young men your own age. Highly recommended... ...

Re: Remember Pearl Harbor please...

I completely agree Larry. Not one flown at half mast here either. I remember as a kid growing up, our neighbor had a flag pole in his front yard. Every morning he brought the flag up, every evening he took it down. It was flown at half mast when the situation warranted it. Almost every house on our ...

Remember Pearl Harbor please...

68 years ago today Japan bombed Pearl Harbor. For some reason this single piece of history sticks out in my mind. More specifically the USS Arizona. Ever since I was a kid in elementary school (maybe 3rd grade) I've remembered Dec. 7th, and I try to make a point to not let people forget it... This i...

Re: Looks like I'll be replacing my fan in the very near future.

Good job. Little helpers are great. I had three. They're all grown up now. Boy,, I sure miss the long nights with my Son out in the garage. Great to see you have him out there helping out. He'll always remember these times. Yeah, I'm lucky 'cause he loves this stuff (mostly I think he loves his &qu...

Re: Looks like I'll be replacing my fan in the very near future.

Thanks for the info guys! I just got the fan clutch switched out today. I can tell you it wasn't "simple" though!! After 15 years, that fan clutch did NOT want to come loose! But nothing a big hammer couldn't fix... A few things I learned- even though I probably could of removed the fan cl...

Re: Cool Video

I'm still trying to figure out what is cooler.... putting together a motorcycle from scratch or the video production... I'm gonna have to go with the video production - only because I have already experienced putting a bike together from scratch... but to put one together on the floor like that, wit...
