Rumor is gary passed away

The grape vine is saying that Gary had a Heart Attack this morning. I don't know if anyone has his number and/or could verify but throwing it out there. Good thoughts are out there man, I'll miss the spirited debates.

Re: Exhaust question

My V8 has a "medium performance" high-torque/hp cam... which is pretty rough/choppy at idle. Add A/C and I have to keep the idle somewhat higher than I want (in neutral), and sometimes have to take it out of gear at lights to keep it running, while under load. A higher stall (I'm estimati...

Re: V8 swap for power or turbo install

5.3L swaps are another animal entirely than a traditional SBC swap. Be sure to do your research there are a few good threads on them. In terms of turbo 4.3 vs a bigger engine, "it depends." If you're talking about a decent Vortec 350 there's not all that much into engineering the swap. Wit...

Re: Back in the day......

My recollection is hazy. Something about a little short guy in a big van and sawing up a pound cake with a machete.

Re: To the faithful........what can I say??.

Everyone here has read about how I'm gonna be the first with awd low range and limited slip front and rears. Ya gotta stick around till I'm done damnit!! Just another couple of years really I'm almost there!!! Sounds about like me and getting my heap running. Still sitting in the garage. Needs tran...

Quit eating those Doritos and get that engine back in the van. :D

Hope the reno is going well for you and I hope you're getting ready for the next steps on this swap.

Sad to hear she's gone, but that is awesome. Always like to see a fellow forumer get some ink. It's really cool!

Don't know but it's late model (6 lug) and clean looking. Wish mine looked that good in any color.

Re: Bought yesterday

Depends on the box, if it's an 80E it may lose reverse at some point (mine sure did) but that's actually a pretty easy fix with that welder. I still have my HF piece of junk, wish I had a nice Miller like that. Good to see you're makin progress too Gary.

Re: Astro van and their owner's retirements..kinda quiet

I don't think that many other vans will ever approach the cult following of a microbus. That's like the holy grail of cult vans in some regards. I think that these being able to take a V8 Chevy engine easily coupled with the ease and availibility of other GM powertrain options are what will keep the...

Never know, it happens. I am probably not heading that direction for the near future, hopefully it won't be a glory run next time I do.

Re: Astro van and their owner's retirements..kinda quiet

Still got mine. I haven't been frequenting many forums lately. Even ones I used to mod. Just don't have the time any more between work and my son, so it goes on the back burner. I decided to give more priority to getting my junk running when I can. I just got the Lemans running, and when it's not co...

Re: In Franklin, MA for a few more weeks

Way it goes. I don't actually think it's much farther than Chicagoland is honestly. I've been keeping in trouble here, got some used goodies off Craigslist for the van I'm mailing back. We'll see how that goes.
