Pics needed; 48" x 48" hitch mounted cargo carrier/bike rack
Looking for pics of a 48" x 48" fiberglass cargo box that I believe was made by Sportrack/Thule. It looks to be about 18" deep. It was hitch mounted and fit up close to the rear door. You could then lower the box on it's "beam" to a horizontal position. I've seen them in pic...

Maggiolina access port revisited
Three years ago, I asked the question "Maggiolina; anyone ever mount one directly to the roof?" My search for info on this mod was birthed out of frustration with my many efforts to squeeze more space out of my beloved short wheelbase Safari GT mini-rv. Paying to have a pop-top installed w...

Re: Help with installing swivel bases please.
I was thinking about trimming the length of the aftermarket floor base, then overlapping it on both ends with about a 4" wide strap drilled and bent to accommodate the factory screws, then welded together. As for the seat attachment, there's no way the swivel base holes will line up with the st...

Help with installing swivel bases please.
I recently bought the swivel bases you see pictured here at a yard sale. The guy didn't know anything at all about them, such as what they were made to fit, what they had been installed in, or how the top plate was supposed to be oriented to the bottom plate when in the locked (as in when in motion)...

Re: Installing a Maggiolina Airtop with a passage hatch
I took a look at the specs on the Maggiolina, and the mediums are 57" wide. The roof of the Safari is 56". Obviously it's not ideal, but I wonder if it would be that noticeable. As for the roof vent, the base for the Airtop would have to go pretty near to the rear edge of the roof, and you...

Re: Installing a Maggiolina Airtop with a passage hatch
I'd love to find a "donor" GTRV or SafariCondo for a reasonable price!

Installing a Maggiolina Airtop with a passage hatch
For quite some time I've been tossing around the idea / feasibility of installing a Maggiolina Airtop to my Safari GT mini-rv with a hole cut through the roof of the van (where the air vent is now) and again in the bottom of the Airtop, in such a way as to permit movement in and out of the Airtop wi...

Recommended toilet system for my Safari camper van?
I have a Safari Gt that I've converted to a campervan. It's a short wheelbase van, and doesn't have a pop up or high top on it. As you can imagine, it's pretty crowded in there. But we just spent 10 days on the Blueridge Parkway / Skyline Drive, and in spite of lots of nasty weather, my wife really ...

Short wheelbase pop top?
Does anyone know of a company that will install a pop-top and bed on a short wheelbase Safari? Thanks.

Re: My Safari Gt mini-rv
"as she wouldn't be able to sit up..." Well, you're right about that. My wife and I are fine with the claustrophobia part, but it would have been nice to be able to sit up in bed. In fact, we found it so challenging to change clothes in the bed, or in the front seats, that we added a colla...

Re: My Safari Gt mini-rv
Sorry about the delay in getting back to you T.Low. I've been pretty busy lately putting the finishing touches on the Safari in preparation for a trip on the the Skyline Drive And the Blueridge Parkway in mid-October. I had intended to put up a gallery of pics of the total finished project a few wee...

Re: Safari GT question
Thanks guys. I ended up suspending the shoe bags by drilling into the top of the plastic "window" frame, inserting those vinyl plugs that you usually use on drywall, and screwing into those.

Safari GT question
I have a Safari GT that I've converted into a mini-RV. I bought one of those shoe bags that you hang on the back of your closet. A friend of mine who's handy with a sowing machine cut the bag into 4 pieces. I'm putting one section of 8 pockets on each the inside of the panels that have the glass omi...

My Safari Gt mini-rv
My Safari Gt mini-rv. All original. It only has 90,000 miles on it. It features an ARB 50 qt. fridge-freezer, a Seaward propane locker, a 3 burner propane stove, a Fan-Tastic roof vent + fan and hood, a Rapid-Wing awning from Supra-Peg, a full double bed with 7" memory foam mattress, a Kanz cam...
